We are currently recruiting for dedicated K9 Handlers to join our team of certified professionals!

Position Summary

K9 Handlers to perform Patrol duties at a Internationally known Client in the Greater Victoria area. Do you enjoy making a difference? This is the job for you. **Please note this is an evening position with hours being 1900 - 0300 or 2100 - 0500 depending on season.

Duties And Responsibilities

• Coordinating & Liaising with Police and other Emergency Services Providers as Required.
• Providing Excellent Customer Services
• Providing detailed reports, including occurrence reports, incident reports, and patrol reports as required.
• Prepares and maintain documentation to ensure thorough training of assigned canine.
• Interior & Exterior Patrols as required, including but not restricted to wooded areas, parking lots, stairwells, hallways, common area facilities.
• Assist and respond to any calls by the K9 Operations Manager for additional service as required.
• Ability to change schedule when needed and have an open availability.
• Attend monthly K9 maintenance training.
• Provide K9 Patrol/Protection support in accordance with established procedures.

Qualifications

• Customer Service and solutions focused.
• Must provide a clean driver's abstract and provide abstracts annually.
• Ability to accept direction and guidance (listening skills) follow instructions.
• Must commit to a 6 - 8 week K9 training program in Lower Mainland before deployment (travel and accommodations covered)
• Exceptional report writing skills.
• Must have a class 5 driver's license.
• Must have the ability to attain enhanced security clearance.
• Experience and skills to deal with difficult people.
• Ability to work independently or with little or no supervision.
• The ability to take care of K9 after hours and provide a suitable home and friendly environment for a dog.
• Must have an open availability.
• Must be willing to accept requisite responsibilities for working with or around narcotics/ explosives in a training medium or in an operational environment.
• Must have the ability to work outside during inclement weather.
• Must have a valid BC security license and maintain their BST security license throughout duration of employment.
• Must ensure that deportment is impeccable (includes cleanliness, neatness, high level of personal hygiene)
• Must be fit to stand/sit/patrol for up to 12 hours per day, carry 50lbs, and walk up and down stairs.
• Must have a suitable vehicle to transport K9 to and from work in an approved crate.
• Maintain care for assigned dog in the field or kennels.
