Your Opportunity
Our Toronto office is looking for a Junior Financial Analyst to join the Valuations & Modelling team in September 2023 to play an active role in supporting management in business valuation and related mandates. This includes valuations prepared in the context of financial reporting, transaction advisory, tax planning and litigation support.
The Junior Financial Analyst will own the following responsibilities:
  • Develop an understanding of the business development activities required to support this type of practice (for future career development); and
  • Assist in the ongoing training and development of professional staff within the service area.
  • Participate in discussions and meetings with management of the companies involved;
  • Develop relationships with BDO's current and prospective clients as well as with other BDO service groups;
  • Analyze company and industry-specific strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats to determine the cash flow risks of the companies involved;
  • Manage multiple engagements to ensure successful and timely completion of client deliverables;
  • Research third-party databases for market, industry or comparable public company and private transaction multiples and other information for valuation purposes
  • Provide ongoing communication with the Valuations team concerning file execution and service area development initiatives;
  • Draft detailed valuation reports and presentations to management;
  • Participate in the preparation of the financial models used for the valuation;

Your Experience And Education
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • A bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business, or another related field
  • Successful completion of the CPA designation (or near completion)
  • Must be willing to pursue a CBV designation
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • 0-1 year of work experience in an accounting or Valuations/M&A practice
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Suite, especially Excel
  • Solid verbal and written communication skills
