This position is a part of the Association of the Academic Staff of the University of Alberta (AASUA).


This Competition Will Be Used To Fill Three Positions


  • International Service Partner - College of Natural & Applied Sciences
  • International Service Partner - College of Social Sciences & Humanities, and Augustana, Campus St. Jean and Native Studies
  • International Service Partner - College of Health Sciences

In accordance with the Administrative and Professional Officer Agreement , this full-time continuing positions offer a comprehensive benefits package found on our Benefits Overview page , and an annual salary range of $66,167 - $110,279.


Location - This role is hybrid with a mix of remote and in person at the corresponding campus to the positions.

An exciting opportunity exists for 3 highly motivated and enthusiastic individuals to join our team of professionals as International Service Partners (ISPs).


Position Summary


Reporting to the Director, Global Engagement (GE), the ISPs serve as liaisons between UAI and each of the three Colleges (Natural & Applied Sciences, Health Sciences, and Social Sciences & Humanities) and their Faculties. The ISP for CSSH will also serve the three stand-alone Faculties. The ISPs will work closely with the College-level administration teams as well as with those of the Faculties within the College, to contribute to an international ecosystem that articulates institutional, College and stand-alone Faculties’ strategic internationalization objectives, identifies opportunities and matches to interest and capacity, and profiles the University of Alberta as a global university.


Duties


  • Gathers insight and intelligence from College/Faculty/Department regarding international developments, relationships/connections, activities, and opportunities, used for the development of institutional relationships and to inform and/or impact College-level strategic international plans.
  • Collaborates with RMs to manage the development and implementation of institutional level international events, missions and visits.
  • Analyzes resource requirements for College partnerships and seeks external and/or internal resources where necessary.
  • Fosters cooperation, collaboration, and communication between implicated external and internal partners to create consensus and accomplish international objectives for the College and the University.
  • Supports College/Faculties/Departments in facilitating implementation of multi-disciplinary projects/initiatives/activities with international partners and in determining value of partnerships
  • Works closely with the Manager, International Relations Services, to ensure the international activities database is up-to-date regarding College international activities, including international collaborations, visits, and missions.
  • Actively seeks out information on developments, activities, and priorities within the College related to education, research, and innovation, to inform strategic decision making within UAI and the University.
  • Proactively consults and seeks advice from Regional Managers (RMs), and other UAlberta decision makers, to develop, manage, steward, and assess international relationships and partnerships for their College, and works with partners to define collaborative plans in support of College and Faculty strategic objectives, including growth in revenue generation, establishment of joint/articulation programs, research funding, and partnerships for sustainability.
  • Supports the College/Stand-alone Faculty senior leadership team in the development and implementation of College-level international strategic planning that advances UAlberta’s strategic objectives


Qualifications


The incumbent is expected to have broad general knowledge in the areas below, as well as 5+ years of specialized work experience or related international experience preferably in a post-secondary environment.


  • Highly-developed problem-solving, critical thinking, and crisis communication skills
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written; comfort with public speaking, delivering presentations
  • Ability to manage time well, meet multiple deadlines, and prioritize projects
  • Strong research, analytical, and writing skills, including ability to draft professional, concise, strategic, and persuasive briefing documents for senior administrators
  • Knowledge of, and experience with, strategic internationalization initiatives within a post-secondary institution context
  • Computer literacy in word processing, databases, and superior internet skills
  • Experience in organizing and hosting incoming international delegations, and ability to handle complex logistical planning
  • Ability to work in demanding, changing, and uncertain/ambiguous international environments
  • Superior intercultural skills
  • International work and/or study experience would be an asset
  • Fluency in English is required; additional languages will be an asset
  • Strong project development and management skills
  • For the ISP position in College of Social Sciences and Humanities, fluency in French will be an asset
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • A Master’s degree preferred; other combinations of education and relevant experience may be considered
