Intermediate Engineer - Residential

What is the opportunity?

The Intermediate Engineer – Residential will primarily focus on structural design and analysis with a residential project focus. This role will include aspects of project delivery management, production of structural documents, and construction administration. The Intermediate Engineer will ensure all work is carried out in full support of our Vision, Mission, Values and One Company culture.

What will you do?

Execution of structural projects within the realm of residential projects from conceptual design to final completion:

• Responsible for the designing and detailing of structural elements including design and calculations, computer modelling, and analysis with emphasis on residential projects.
• Participates in client meetings facilitating solutions to design issues and challenges and providing status updates.
• Answer contractor RFI’s and oversee contract administration.
• Deliver projects ensuring profitably with a high quality of deliverables.
• Drafts project-related correspondence as needed.
• Conducts review of the architectural, electrical, mechanical, and structural drawings.
• Works to assemble and coordinate engineering drawings and contract documents in collaboration with our BIM technologists and other members of the engineering team.
• Manage projects and clients from conceptual design to final completion
• Mentors junior staff with design and delivery elements of a project to ensure standards are upheld.
• Create and monitor project budgets.
• Such other duties and responsibilities as Entuitive may assign to you from time to time.

Requirements

What do you need to succeed?

• Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities and deliverables on an ongoing basis.
• Strong project management capability with a proven track record of delivering projects on time and on budget.
• Ability to work independently.
• P.Eng. registered in the province you are hired.
• Seismic design experience is considered an asset.
• Strong project management skills with ability to manage scope, schedule and budget.
• Excellent communication skills both verbal and written with the ability to work with people at all levels including project stakeholders and clients.
• Must have a working knowledge and ability to use programs such as AutoCAD, Revit, Bluebeam, Microsoft Word and Excel and structural analysis software (SAFE, ETABS, S-Concrete, etc.).
• Have a working knowledge on current Building Codes, By-Laws and building material codes.
• Minimum Bachelor’s degree in civil / structural engineering.
• Minimum 4+ years of progressive experience relevant to the role.
• Advanced concrete design skills, including high-rise buildings design experience.
