The Head of Marketing and Public Affairs plays a pivotal role in developing and executing comprehensive marketing and public affairs strategies that align with our business objectives, enhance brand visibility; promotes and protect Harbour Air’s reputation; ensure effective communication with key stakeholders; and support revenue growth initiatives. This role is responsible for leadership and innovative thinking that is crucial to guiding our marketing and public affairs team towards achieving our organizational goals.
WORK HOURS:Office hours (weekend and evenings as needed)
LOCATION: Richmond, Vancouver, or Victoria BC
TERM:Full Time Regular

Responsibilities
- Monitor legislative and regulatory developments that could affect the organization’s operations.
- Cultivate and maintain relationships with media outlets, journalists, and influencers.
- Stay up to date with industry trends, market dynamics, and competitive landscape to identify opportunities and challenges.
- Lead, motivate, and manage the marketing team, providing coaching, training, and guidance to ensure high performance, productivity and achievement of goals and objectives. Set individual and team targets, monitor progress, and provide regular performance feedback to team members.
- Conceptualize and develop creative marketing campaigns that resonate with target audiences, leveraging various channels such as digital, social media, traditional media, events, and more.
- Oversee the creation of communication materials such as newsletters, reports, and presentations for both internal and external audiences.
- Define key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to measure the effectiveness of marketing initiatives.
- Oversee the maintenance and evolution of the brand identity, ensuring consistency across all marketing materials and communication.
- Build and maintain relationships with government officials, regulatory agencies, and relevant stakeholders.
- Develop and disseminate clear and consistent messaging across various channels, including social media, press releases, speeches, and official statements.
- Proactively manage the organization’s reputation by identifying potential issues and developing strategies to address them.
- Monitor campaign performance, analyze data, and provide regular reports to the executive team, suggesting adjustments and improvements as needed.
- Manage crisis communication, handling media inquiries and providing timely responses during challenging situations.
- Monitor public sentiment and media coverage to gauge the effectiveness of communication efforts and adjust strategies accordingly.
- Lead the creation and execution of integrated marketing campaigns across various channels to increase brand awareness, engagement, and customer acquisition.
- Prepare and distribute press releases, media advisories, and other communication materials to promote organizational activities and achievements.
- Utilize market research and data-driven insights to make informed decisions and adapt strategies accordingly.
- Continuously assess budget allocation to optimize spending based on business priorities and campaign performance.
- Manage the budget, allocating resources effectively.
- Develop, communicate, and implement an overall marketing and public affairs strategy in alignment with Harbour Air’s goals and objectives.
- Drive efforts to differentiate the brand in the market and position it as a leader within the industry.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in public affairs, government relations and media relations.
- Proven experience (8+ years) in marketing leadership roles, preferably in the airline or a related industry.
- Strong track record of developing and executing successful marketing strategies that drive growth.
Education
Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communication, Business or related fields; Master’s Degree is a plus

- Strong understanding of public policy, regulatory environments, and the political landscape.

- Excellent analytical skills and the ability to translate data into actionable insights.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with various teams and stakeholders.
- Proficiency in marketing technology tools, analytical platforms and CRM systems.
