About the Role:
We are on the lookout for a Business Affairs Assistantto join our growing team.Based in the Lower Mainland and reporting to the VP Business Affairs, the Business Affairs Assistantwill provide administrative support in connection with live-action film and television projects throughout development and all the way to final delivery.The successful candidate will have film industry experience,preferably in an office environment, in addition to beinghighly organized, detailed, professional, and able to juggle multiple tasks. Recent graduates and a working knowledge or interest in business, legal, and financial matters is encouraged.This is a full-time positionatour Burnaby office, withoccasionaldays worked from home or on set.
Responsibilities:
- Helping usher projects through development, pre-production, production, post-production, and final delivery
- Spearheadingdomestic and international legal deliverables including insurance documentation, onscreen credits lists, paid ad & likeness statements, and billing blocks
- Working closely with the music and post-production department to facilitate legal deliverables
- Interfacing and buildingrelationships with US/Canadian unions and guilds to organize signatory documentation
- Scheduling calls and meetings
- Maintaining the company’s digital filing system
- Assisting in preparing documents for signature
- Tracking project key dates and milestones including delivery dates, air dates, tax credit deadlines, fund application deadlines, payment milestones, and option rights deadlines
- Assisting in drafting development and production funding applications
- Assisting the VP in preparing documents for interim financiers, auditors, and film tax credit offices
Qualifications:
- A minimum of 1 year of film industry work experience, either on set or in an office environment
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Keenattentionto detail
- Adept in prioritizing tasks in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
- A proven ability to work in a team, but also to be self-directed and take initiative to accomplish personal goals
- A desire and penchant for continual learning
- Well-versed with Microsoft Word, Excel, Zoom, Airtable, Movie Magic Budgeting, and Google products and services
