Description

Michels Canada is looking for a Field Engineer, EIT to join our Trenchless Crossings team! You will immediately be assigned to a unique, complex major project for one of our key clients on the West Coast. As a Field Engineer, you will be assigned work packages where you be responsible for a wide range of project management tasks. You will be assisting in the planning, coordination and execution of this major project from beginning to end. Critical for success will be the candidate’s ability to manage business priorities in a fast-paced environment, have excellent oral and written communication skills and always maintain confidentiality. This position will be based in the Surrey, British Colombia.

Responsibilities

• Perform quality inspection and prepare quality packages for temporary and permeant materials, develop and comply with ITPs, issue NCR for delivered materials and make sure remedy action is taken to close all NCR on timely manner, Ensure compliance with company quality requirements and standards.
• Track permanent materials and bulk commodities per established procedure.
• Other duties as assigned.
• Assist superintendent in their daily operation, ensuring delivery of all materials as per operation schedule, generate and issue daily reports, track and report any internal or external delays onsite, ensuring operation have all the required permits, construction plans, and most update revision of site specific safety plans and emergency response plan.
• Participate in the development of work plans and packages to enable work to be executed efficiently.
• Maintain and promote a strong safety culture for all employees, vendors, and customers and follow all safety policies, procedures, and regulations. Identify and communicate workplace hazards and correct or seek assistance in correcting unsafe actions or conditions
• Identify purchasing needs and initiate the purchase requisition process.
• Provide planning, reporting, and forecasting support to project leadership.

EDUCATION

• Must be a registered or eligible to be registered; EIT.
• Bachelor’s degree, or engineering technologist in Civil, Mining, or Mechanical Engineering.

Requirements

• 2 – 4 years of related construction experience with a contractors; Tunneling, Trenchless, or heavy civil construction.
• Must possess a valid driver license for the type(s) of vehicles which may be driven and an acceptable driving record.

Desired Skills/Qualifications

• Demonstrates the ability to work independently, take initiative, set priorities, and see projects through to completion.
• Experience with: Blue Beam and Excel

LANGUAGES

• Must be able to communicate verbally and through written language (by hand and digitally) in English.
