Job Description
Salus University, founded as the Pennsylvania College of Optometry in 1919, is today a diversified, globally recognized professional academic center of learning that offers a wide range of degree programs in the professions of Optometry, Audiology, Physician Assistant, Public Health, Education and Rehabilitation for the Blind and Visually Impaired, Biomedicine, Occupational Therapy and Speech-Language Pathology. Effective July1, 2024, Salus and Drexel Universities will close on a long-planned merger agreement.


Salus operates four clinical facilities in the Philadelphia area that provide highly specialized vision, hearing and balance, and speech-language pathology services. Salus University is seeking a responsible individual to fill the Full-Time position of Executive Assistant to the President’s Office. The Executive Assistant to the President’s Office supports the President, the Chief of Staff and the Special Assistant for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion by providing direct administrative assistance and manages day-to-day operations of the President’s Office to ensure efficiency and effectiveness.


This position requires an individual who is professional, courteous, competent, productive, and has the ability to respond to inquiries (both verbal and in writing) in a manner that represents the University in a positive fashion. The Assistant to the President’s Office will ensure that the Office operates effectively and efficiently while maintaining a professional environment and a high level of confidentiality.


Sample Responsibilities


  • Maintains calendars and schedules; rearranges appointments as necessary; arranges committee and staff meetings and provides notifications as needed.
  • Triages matters and issues rising to the presidential level (i.e. student and alumni issues, etc.). Works with various department heads or senior management, if applicable, to ensure a resolution is brought to these matters in an accurate, timely and professional fashion. Assesses the appropriateness of presidential involvement.
  • Assures timely communication and coordination between the Office of the President and all other major activity areas of the University in order to meet the needs of the institution.
  • Organizes meetings, events and sends invites (e.g. meeting space, food/drink, video links, calendar invites, etc.)
  • As a member of President’s Council, organizes and transcribes meetings, develops the agenda and ensures follow up actions and items are completed by appropriate staff.
  • Coordinates travel arrangements and prepares/submits expense reports/reimbursements.
  • Participates with the President and other senior officers in institutional planning, policy development and problem resolution.
  • Interacts with the Board of Trustees (meetings, document preparation)


Education, Experience, Skills And Other Requirements
  • Experience in an institution of higher education or health professional institution.
  • Ability to work across productivity platforms (both Microsoft and Google).
  • Ability to work across communication platforms (like Zoom and Google Meet).
  • MS Office computer literacy required, including Word, Excel, Access and Power Point.
  • Bachelor's Degree with at least 3 years administrative experience or 8 years administrative experience, at least 3 of which were reporting to an executive level administrator.
  • Minimum 70wpm typing speed; ability to transcribe.
