Meridia is happy to partner with FPS in their search for an Engineering Manager to join their team in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia.
Role Description
As the Engineering Manager, you will lead a team of project managers designing fuel safety systems for large industrial and utility boilers, and other fuel-fired industrial equipment. As the leader you will support staff development as you work to optimize workload and schedules to ensure projects are being completed on time and on budget. Using the expertise you've developed to date, you will train and mentor your team on both the technical aspects of their role as well as project and client management.
Your Responsibilities Will Include

• Reviewing instrument and control projects to ensure that manufacturing, installation, and functional operation conform to all specifications, codes, and standards
• Hiring, mentoring, and developing new engineers as required based on forecast loading
• Setting and reviewing performance expectations for all direct report staff
• Helping to develop, maintain, and implement PLC and DCS process control programming standards and guidelines
• Assisting with business development including customer sales visits and preparing detailed proposals
• Assisting with production planning and team workload forecasting
• Managing and coordinating the work of 8-10 control system engineers and project managers
• Performing customer system field audits
• Performing high level project management to ensure projects for all team members are on schedule
• Allocating team members to new projects and managing customer site travel scheduling

Your Qualifications
With an educational background in engineering or engineering technology, your experience includes areas such as electrical engineering, industrial controls, building controls, and project management (or any combination). Your experience has been developed in industrial settings, such as power generation, petrochemical, pulp and paper, or other process manufacturing facilities. With a proven history of effectively growing and managing teams, you are able to unlock the full potential of your staff by identifying and filling skill gaps through training and mentorship. Additionally, you have excellent problem-solving and analytical abilities combined with great organizational, communication, and time management skills.
Your Qualifications Include

• 10+ years of engineering experience
• Basic electrical and programming knowledge
• Engineering degree or technology diploma
• PLC loop tuning and optimization (PID) experience
• Familiarity with the Canadian Electrical Code, natural gas firing codes (NFPA 85, NFPA 86, CSA B31.1, FM etc.), and ISO 9001 QMS would all be considered assets
• Industrial instrumentation experience
• 5+ years of engineering management experience
• Thermodynamics education or experience is considered an asset
• Industrial controls and PLC programming experience (Rockwell Allen Bradley, Emerson Delta-V, etc.)
