Job Description

THE CLIENT


With more than 60 years of experience as a custom Power Supply and EMI/EMC/RF Filter manufacturer, they are known for their ability to produce highly reliable and durable products for some of the most demanding industries and end markets.


Their solutions can be found in semiconductor equipment, life-saving heart assists devices, medical carts, surgical tools, ion and proton beam steering (magnet driving) oil and gas exploration equipment, in-flight aircraft entertainment systems, missile and radar systems, satellite communication systems, electric vehicle, irrigation systems, as well as test and measurement devices.


JOB SUMMARY


Will be working with a multidisciplinary team on the development of innovative products. The Director of Engineering works in conjunction with Senior Management, Marketing, and Sales to ensure products are developed according to the strategic plan delineated by the main stockholders.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACTIVITIES INCLUDE


  • Providing positive leadership and team building which will encourage employee engagement and maintain high morale.
  • Oversee departmental capital equipment needs and budgeting.
  • Mentoring junior staff members.
  • Review customer requirement specifications for new product proposals.
  • Day-to-day management of a department.
  • Attract and retain talent through recruiting, mentoring, training, and other employee development activities.
  • Monitor project assignments to normalize workload across the staff.
  • Development and monitoring of project-specific execution plans.
  • Responsible for coordination with other department managers in the organization to provide consistent direction to the staff and to in still a spirit of collaboration throughout the business unit.
  • Ensure adherence to Quality Control processes.
  • Design and participate in design reviews to provide detailed design guidance on EMI filters.


EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS


  • Agency compliance (UL, CSA, VDE, CE) experience
  • Experience in designing products for testability and manufacturability.
  • Willing to relocate to New Jersey, USA
  • High-frequency magnetic component design.
  • Knowledge of best design practices to comply with different EMC standards.
  • Extensive knowledge of components utilized in switch-mode power supply design.
  • Leadership skills to drive projects to happen on time.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline required with a 10-year minimum.
  • Experience in designing microcontrollers to report and control power electronics.
  • Experience troubleshooting EMC issues.
