Director Of Downstream Process & Scale Up Development

This is an exciting role for a biotech company that works with organic waste to make eco-friendly plastics to use within the Pharmaceutical, medical device and packaging industries.

This company has already made significant waves in the industry, having secured substantial investment from globally respected investors. As part of their growth strategy, they are seeking a Director, Downstream Process Development & Scale responsible for leading the charge on process engineering and scaling up downstream processes crucial to the production of biopolymers.

Responsibilities:

• Proficiently design and optimize demonstration and industrial-scale process systems, ensuring efficiency, safety, and compliance with regulatory requirements.
• Lead the process engineering and scale-up efforts of downstream processes ensuring a seamless transition to large industrial scale production.
• Demonstrate exceptional problem-solving skills by consistently delivering innovative and effective solutions to complex challenges, ensuring smooth process operations and optimization.
• Possess a strong understanding and hands-on experience with liquid-liquid and liquid-solid separation techniques, as well as purification methods.
• Evaluate and select appropriate process equipment, such as centrifuges, dryers, ultrafiltration membrane systems, liquid-liquid separators, and mixers, among others, to meet project objectives and specifications.

Requirements:

• P.Eng and/or Master’s in Chemical or Biochemical Process Engineering
• 10+ years of experience specifically in biotech or downstream industrial biotechnology.
• Exhibit a solution-oriented mindset, focusing on identifying and implementing practical and strategic solutions.
• Able to collaborate effectively in an interdisciplinary team environment.
• Possess a strong background in process engineering or manufacturing with significant experience in downstream processing and operations
