Product Validation &Test Manager/Director

Role Description:

We are seeking a highly talented and experienced leader to help build and manage a world class Product Validation function. The group is responsible for the product validation of radiation imaging detectors and the development of test systems based on our cutting-edge radiation sensor technology.

This position is based in beautiful Victoria, BC. The garden isle!

Responsibilities:

· Contribute to the development of customer product requirements and develop validation plans and test systems to ensure that products meet those requirements

· Develop staffing and resourcing plans for the development of the test software and hardware necessary to execute the validation plans

· Lead the specification of the hardware and software requirements to carry out the validation tasks

· Manage the validation process and schedule

· Identify which requirements can be confirmed as met “by design” and which ones require the development and implementation of a factory acceptance test for each product shipped

· Develop validation test reports for each product

· Support Redlen’s product manufacturing in their development of volume production factory acceptance test plans, and test hardware and software to execute those plans

· Examine test escapes and field returns to understand what went wrong and what lessons can be learned from them

· Participate in design reviews and root cause analyses

• Lead the recruitment and development of the Validation and Test team(s) – a team of highly skilled validation engineers and scientists - including being responsible for the day-to day management of the team’s tasks, setting goals, coaching, driving individual and team success, 1 on 1 meetings, reviewing performance, optimizing employee retention, inter-company communication and removing barriers to success
• Continuously implement initiatives that aim to improve processes, systems and culture across the department and wider company
• Maintain and model a positive and professional attitude, that cultivates healthy working relationships across all levels of the organization

Candidate Requirements:

• Experience in mixed signal semiconductor device validation
• Validation experience in complex hardware, software and firmware environments
• Bachelor’s degree in systems or electrical engineering, engineering physics or equivalent
• Working knowledge of product development and validation in ISO9001 or ISO13485 environments
• Ability to apply statistical tools such as JMP or Minitab to solve practical problems
• Experience with validating complex detection or instrumentation products
• Strong analytical and problem solving skills
• A strong technical background, with experience with semiconductor, medical imaging or security imaging products is a definite asset
• Experience with troubleshooting and problem solving
• Exceptional attention to detail
• Good customer facing experience and skills
• Strong oral and written communication, interpersonal and presentation skills
• Minimum 3 years experience managing a technical team
• Minimum 5 years product validation and/or test systems development experience
• Demonstrated leadership experience managing and mentoring direct reports and in driving cross-functional teams in a matrix organization
