Director Of Engineering & Product Development

As Director of Engineering & Product Development you will inspire, lead, and oversee the engineering and product development functions of the company, and act as a liaison between the Engineering team and the President & CEO.
You will ensure that the engineering department is effectively carrying out engineering work to support company goals, meeting timelines, budgets, and objectives.
Working in collaboration with the President, you will be responsible for SEAMOR product development, including strategic planning and processes, product roadmap, product standards, and overseeing new product design projects. You will support innovation and adoption of new technology to maintain and expand SEAMOR’s technology leadership position and response to industry needs.
Your Responsibilities
Participate and contribute as a member of the Management Team
Inspire, lead, and oversee a dynamic, high-performing Engineering team
Manage human resources functions for the Engineering department, including supervision of engineering team members
Lead, plan and manage Engineering projects, ensuring timelines and objectives are met
Lead and oversee product development and related processes
Communicate, coordinate, resolve problems, and recommend improvements with senior management and with other departments.
Provide technical support to engineering and other personnel
Key Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical or Mechatronics Engineering; graduate degree is an asset; PEng is also an asset
Experience in a senior role, leading a multidisciplinary engineering team
Project management experience; ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
Product development experience; subsea product development experience is a strong asset
Proven collaborative leadership skills
Hands on engineering design experience (electrical/mechatronic, mechanical, and software)
Systems design experience
Experience supervising engineering R&D work in a fast-paced multidisciplinary environment
Demonstrated ability to think outside the box and generate creative solutions
Ability to manage budgets and resources
Demonstrated ability to develop partnerships and collaborate with external partners
Experience in robotics, subsea and other relevant technologies and sectors/industries
Passion for technology and innovation.
Able to communicate with technical experts in a wide range of engineering disciplines
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; conflict resolution skills
High level of technical knowledge relevant to SEAMOR products and technologies
Strong knowledge of relevant industries and sectors
Proven enthusiasm, ability and commitment to maintain currency in the field
Good judgement and evaluative skills
Mentorship skills
Proficient with Microsoft Office suite and relevant software used in Engineering
Familiarity with versioning systems, such as Subversion and SolidWorks PDM
