Opportunity
Reporting to VP - Product & Innovation, the Director of Product, will be responsible for leading the product management & development life cycles across all of Saje’s product categories (Home, Remedies, Body / Personal Care). The Director of Product will be working in a fast paced, creative environment that offers an opportunity to be part of a rapidly growing brand focused on providing physical, mental & emotional wellness solutions for all. 
The Director of Product plays an integral role in our business, initiating and driving new product concepts & initiatives while aligning with respective R&D, Creative, Marketing, Retail, Ecommerce, and Operations teams.
  • Adherence to Saje financial cost-of-goods (COGs) targets & launch timeline milestones
  • Launch opportunity conceptualization & subsequent management approvals
  • Financial analysis & reporting across Saje product portfolio
  • Adherence to Saje brand standards - formula performance, product aesthetics
  • Analysis and assessment of wider consumer market trends
Through day-to-day functions, the Director of Product contributes to maintaining and strengthening Saje’s culture; proactively engaging in behaviours that align with Saje’s values: Wellness, Growth, Celebration, Greatness and Belonging.
This position has three direct reports & oversees a total team of 5.
Responsibilities
Product Portfolio Strategy & Sales Growth Objectives Planning (35%)
  • Drive the development of a 3-year Product Strategy inclusive of category target objectives, Core product growth and product innovation.
  • Lead the development of an innovative product development pipeline to further Saje’s strategic priorities - innovate within core competency categories, development of hero products and untapped white space opportunities.
  • Act as primary contact between cross-functional team leads & Product Category Management team to ensure business needs are being addressed for future-state project success.
Product Lifecycle & Cross-Functional Alignment (35%)
  • Work in partnership with Demand Planning, Marketing, Retail, Digital & Product teams to hit essential product KPIs (i.e., forecasting accuracy, product margins, sell-through, etc.).
  • Lead and drive the new product launch lifecycle and development process in coordination with Product Category Managers & respective cross-functional teams, to communicate and track project milestones
  • Develop a close working partnership in lockstep with R&D to co-innovate concept opportunities
Portfolio Performance Tracking, Reporting & Pricing Management (15%)
  • Management of portfolio pricing strategy & promotional planning recommendations, in partnership with cross-functional partners, providing analysis and inputs to recommendations for management approvals
  • Oversee analysis of portfolio performance and SKU productivity to drive recommendations for discontinuations & future expansion opportunities.
  • Lead ongoing performance reporting of existing Core categories / subcategories / Hero products / new launches.
Team Development (15%)
  • Partner with wide assortment of cross-functional partners across R&D, Operations, Creative, Marketing, Retail, Digital to define & communicate cohesive product marketing plans & programs.
  • Lead the Product Category Managers & Specialists with excellence
  • Develop & coach Product Managers & Specialists with focus on attaining personal & professional growth objectives
Applicant Requirements
  • Experience with US retail highly desirable.
  • Strong strategic thinking and problem-solving capabilities
  • Strong knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint and Outlook)
  • Solid work ethic with desire to achieve team goals and company revenue targets
  • Excellent written, presentation, and verbal communication skills
  • Entrepreneurial mindset, innovative and creative; able to spot or create original, authentic product opportunities
  • Team player who works productively with a wide range of people in cross-functional teams
  • 8+ years of product development or product marketing experience in a related field; preferably in the Wellness, Consumer-Packaged Goods or Beauty industry
  • Omni channel experience highly desirable.
  • Experience in leading a team or direct report
  • Strong organizational and project management skills
  • Bachelor’s degree in related field required
  • Strong analytical skills
