They took note when people told them how important it is to be able to shop right in their own community. They have stores in small and large towns from Newfoundland to Vancouver Island. They seek a Director of Logistics responsible for the Logistics function of the organization, including responsibility for third-party distribution (DC) and transportation network management. You will be responsible for the overall Logistics budgets, including the DC and Freight. Salary is $130-$145K plus bonus.
DESCRIPTION
- Prepare annual freight and DC budgets, monthly forecast, and monitor performance against budget objectives.
- Research current and potential new carriers; negotiate and monitor compliance with contracts/agreements
- Lead and develop the Logistics team of 2 professionals
- Manage the import process, including maintaining the relationship with the Canadian Retail Shippers’ Association (CRSA).
- Manage the Company’s relationship with our third-party logistics providers
- Interpret provincial and federal regulations and impacts on the business
- Develop international shipping practices and procedures as appropriate
- Devise methods and policies, ensuring the most efficient and economical receipt and movement of all materials.
- Lead the financial management and operational performance for the 3PL and outbound freight.
- Participate in capital purchases and long-term contract negotiations
- Responsible for the complete movement of merchandise through the Supply Chain from source, through the Distribution Centre and carrier networks, to the stores.
- Manage and coordinate the activities of the Logistics team to achieve short- and long-term goals, including inventory, quality controls and on-time deliveries.
REQUIREMENTS
- Detail oriented
- 5-7 years of Supply Chain experience within a multi-unit retail environment is an asset
- Demonstrated progressive management experience
- Proven ability to develop and lead a logistics function that is flexible, able to adapt and respond to a rapidly changing business environment
- Excellent interpersonal and leadership skills
- Self-motivated with excellent multi-tasking skills
- Confident and decisive
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- A university degree in Business Administration or Commerce or equivalent experience
- Excellent time management and organizational skills
