Director, IT Operations & Service Desk

Summary
We are seeking a results-oriented IT Operations Director to lead a high performing team of technical resources ensuring the stability, availability, and optimal performance of our technology environments. You will play a critical role in leading day-to-day IT operations, optimizing IT infrastructure, providing technical support to manufacturing plant locations, and managing IT’s service delivery function.
This role will be tasked with collaborating with cross-functional teams and implementing IT best practices to improve operational efficiency and effectiveness. This role requires expertise in cloud technologies to support cloud based infrastructure and services.
Responsibilities
Lead and develop a high-performing team of IT professionals, providing coaching, mentorship, and performance feedback.
Oversee the day-to-day IT operations, ensuring the availability, performance, and reliability of technology environments, systems, and services.
Manage IT infrastructure, including servers, networks, storage, and data centers, ensuring scalability, security, and compliance, including cloud-based infrastructure.
Monitor and optimize IT infrastructure performance & scalability, proactively identifying and addressing issues and bottlenecks.
Monitor and optimize cloud infrastructure performance, cost, scalability, and security, proactively identifying and resolving issues.
Oversee the service desk function, ensuring timely and effective resolution of IT incidents and service requests.
Define and enforce IT operations policies, procedures, and standards to ensure compliance and operational excellence.
Develop and execute strategies to enhance IT operations efficiency, including incident management, problem management, change management, and service request fulfillment.
Manage cloud governance, compliance frameworks, high availability, and data protection measures.
Support cloud adoption initiatives for new applications & technology migrations
Collaborate with cross-functional teams and business stakeholders to understand IT requirements and align IT services with business goals.
Manage vendor relationships, contracts, and service level agreements (SLAs) to ensure efficient and effective delivery of IT services.
Collaborate with operational teams to support and manage technology projects related to manufacturing plant operations.
Establish and track key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the effectiveness and efficiency of the IT operations and service desk functions.
Develop and maintain IT budgets, forecasts, and resource allocation plans.
Stay updated with emerging technologies, industry trends, and best practices in IT operations management.
Drive continuous improvement initiatives, identifying opportunities to enhance operational efficiency, automate processes, and streamline workflows.
Required Skills
Proven experience leading IT operations and service desk functions. Strong leadership and team management abilities.
Strong knowledge of ITIL (Information Technology Infrastructure Library) framework and best practices for IT Service Management.
Demonstrated expertise in managing service desk operations, including incident management, problem management, change management, and service request fulfillment.
Experience in managing offshore help desk teams, ensuring effective collaboration and SLA adherence.
Expert level knowledge of IT infrastructure, including data centers, networks, servers, storage, and databases.
Solid experience supporting cloud platforms and technologies, such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud, including managing cloud infrastructure and services.
In-depth understanding of cloud computing concepts, architectures, and best practices.
Knowledge of infrastructure-as-code (IaC) tools like Terraform or CloudFormation for cloud infrastructure management.
Familiarity with operational plant technology projects, including knowledge of plant floor systems, automation, and integration with IT systems.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills to address complex technical issues.
Proficiency in IT operations management tools and monitoring systems.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively convey technical concepts, collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders, and interact with manufacturing Plant personnel.
Minimum Experience
Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (such as Information Technology or Computer Science).
A minimum of 10 years of experience in IT infrastructure, including at least 5 years in leadership or management roles.
Proven track record of managing IT infrastructure, delivering operational plant technology projects, and supporting cloud-based solutions.
