CPP Investments is seeking a new Director of the CPP Investments Insights Institute to take responsibility for all aspects of the Institute’s operations. This role will shape the Institute’s long-term strategy and editorial pipeline. This individual will work with internal thought leaders to compile and bring their insights to market. They will produce research and communication materials that support the Institute’s mission: to create enduring value by using the Fund’s global investing expertise, partnerships and convening power to advance how the global investment ecosystem addresses climate change, technological disruption and evolving stakeholder expectations.

This individual will be the only employee solely dedicated to the CPP Investments Insights Institute and will need an entrepreneurial spirit, excellent communications skills and demonstrated strategic aptitude. They must have a sense of urgency, comfort dealing with ambiguity, and the tenacity to work through the unexpected.

Responsibilities:

• Engage with the Institute’s Working Groups to develop research, including structuring the Groups, capturing the perspectives of other internal actors
• Produce best-in-class thought leadership across a variety of mediums (written, video, audio)
• Development and fulfillment of the Institute’s annual strategy
• Build recognition for the Insights Institute externally
• The Director will lead the following:
• Tracking progress against set KPIs
• Editorial activities of the Institute – including defining editorial direction
• Codify research produced by our investors for public communication and dissemination, for internal and external use on CPP Investments’ website and other media channels
• Shape and lead the development of high-profile research projects, contributing writing and research analysis
• Partner with the Fund’s Digital and Marketing functions to deploy and mobilize the findings of research projects by curating internal and external collateral related to report findings
• Oversee all qualitative and quantitative analyses and coordinate any external academics, data providers or other vendors as appropriate
• Work with the Institute’s Steering Committee and Executive Leadership to define the Institute’s strategic direction

Qualifications

Requirements:

• An ability to manage teams and collaborate effectively
• Proven track record of strategic dialogue with senior executives
• Deep knowledge of capital markets, intellectual curiosity, and drive to improve the global capital markets system for the benefit of all participants
• Competency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint
• Ability to operate in a fast-paced environment and develop and pitch exciting ideas on a consistent basis
• Strong organizational skills, including ability to advance simultaneous projects and meet deadlines
• Experience working at a think tank, in corporate communications, development or strategy, or other relevant space.
• Experience working with social media channels, notably LinkedIn
• Demonstrated ability to conceptualize, initiate, structure and execute projects, and to translate research and conceptual work into meaningful recommendations and products for a CEO-level audience
