Director, Construction & Development Jobs

Taylor Ryan is pleased to be partnering with Vancouver Airport Authority in their search for a Director, Construction and Development. Reporting to the Vice President, Business Development, the Director, Construction Development is responsible for growing the YVR real estate portfolio, focusing on 1,200 acres of available commercial land. This role will lead the development and construction of both YVR and tenant occupied new facilities such as specialized cargo buildings, warehouses, offices and other airport specific developments. This role will be instrumental in the refinement of the land development strategy and individual project business cases/leases. This position will have a strong external focus, informing, influencing and negotiating as it pertains to building design, project methodology, procurement, construction delivery and handover within the context of the Airport’s complex operational environment.

The role:

You will oversee, manage and support development of real estate development projects in accordance with varying project size, scope and complexity, act as a subject matter expert on land and facility development opportunities. Manage, plan, co-ordinate, and direct the Business Development department and team. Create delivery team for approved projects composed of internal staff members, primary business stakeholders and external stakeholders such as contractors, consultants, and other relevant members to ensure successful implementation. Coach, mentor, develop and guide managers and staff. Participate in project approval process, including involvement on approval committees, presentation and/or promotion of viable projects to internal and external stakeholders and requests for funding.

What You Need to Succeed:

The successful candidate will demonstrate 15+ years of relevant experience in fields relating to engineering project management and procurement, design, construction methodologies and approaches. Some relevant experience in other complex operational environments (e.g. municipalities, healthcare, oil & gas or transportation) preferred. Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or other related field, P.Eng and/or PMP certification is an asset.
