Job Description

Our client, a prominent organization in the professional hockey space, is on the hunt for a Digital Communications Coordinator to help cover an upcoming 13-month maternity leave.


The primary responsibility of this role will be to assist in managing a dynamic social media and web publishing schedule and assist with content ideation and production. They will also work collaboratively with the traditional communications team on media monitoring efforts, and will assist with drafting and editing of media releases and statements, as well as special projects as they arise.


Note: Knowledge of the professional hockey landscape is a strong asset for this role.


Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Writing original, creative captions for social media using our clients tone and brand guidelines
  • Assist on research efforts for media/digital communications as special projects arise, including media measurement following annual events.
  • Provide support writing and editing media releases and media statements
  • Opportunity to develop creative content for web and its social media channels
  • Assisting in monitoring social media audience activity
  • Contribute regularly to media monitoring efforts to provide coverage for the department
  • Assisting with/executing the web and social media publishing schedule (both editorial and sponsored content)
  • Assisting with/executing the web and social media content distribution strategy


Required Skills & Experience:

  • Experience with Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, TikTok, Instagram, and Instagram Stories
  • Experience with live event coverage
  • Thorough approach to all work responsibilities Additional Notes: Our industry operates outside standard working hours and, as such, regularly requires our team to be available to work outside of those hours as well.
  • Strong creative thinking and technical writing skills
  • Proficient with social media and social media management tools (analytics tools experience an asset)
  • Ability to collaborate cross-departmentally, team player
  • Ability to prioritize tasks in a dynamic work environment
  • Knowledge of hockey/NHL landscape necessary
  • Experience with social media analytics reporting an asset
