Job Description

Black Boys Code is experiencing explosive growth across Canada.To support this growth, we are looking to hire an experienced Data & Impact Analyst who shares our values and is excited by the idea of working for a fast-growing, mission-driven organization.

About the role:

The Data and Impact Analyst will be responsible for analyzing and interpreting data to drive decision-making and measure the impact of various initiatives. This position combines strong analytical skills with a keen understanding of business goals and social impact, allowing the analyst to uncover insights and provide valuable recommendations.

You will be presented with a remarkable chance to serve as a knowledge broker, enabling you to work across various sectors. In this role, you will act as a bridge connecting clients and experts, and facilitating connections between donors and the organization across different domains.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Collaborate with program managers and operations managers to establish objectives, determine performance indicators, oversee analytical projects, and assess outcomes.
  • Collaborate closely with data scientists and other team members to identify optimal product solutions. Develop, construct, test, and maintain backend code.
  • Engage in proactive communication and collaboration with stakeholders, multiple brand units, technical teams, and support teams to conceptualize ideas, analyze requirements, and determine functional needs.
  • Construct data validation models and tools to ensure the accuracy of recorded data.
  • Contribute as part of the team in evaluating and analyzing critical data that will shape future organizational strategies
  • Manage the delivery of user satisfaction surveys and report on results using data visualization software
  • Establish data processes, define criteria for data quality, and implement data quality assurance procedures.
  • Assume responsibility for the codebase, actively proposing enhancements and conducting refactoring as needed.
  • Utilize analytical techniques and tools to extract and present novel insights to clients, both internal and external, through reports or interactive dashboards.Visualize complex concepts and data through effective graphical representations.
  • Transform important inquiries into actionable analytical tasks.
  • Continuously monitor practices, processes, and systems to identify areas for enhancement.
  • Collect fresh data from various sources to address queries from donors and stakeholders, while organizing and consolidating the data.

A little bit about you:

  • You have experience working with a research or consultancy organization with proven research and analysis skills.
  • Your writing prowess is exceptional, and you possess the talent to distil complex information into clear and concise prose. Additionally, you have a track record of successfully crafting reports.
  • You are skilled in Excel, Data Cleaning and Wrangling and with tools like OpenRefine
  • You have strong people skills, and the ability to communicate effectively with and understand the perspectives of different stakeholder groups in the private, public and social sectors.
  • You possess excellent analytical and quantitative skills, including data analysis
  • You are self-motivated, able to work independently and enjoy working autonomously.
  • Your proficiency in SQL is exceptional, particularly in its application as an Impact analyst to efficiently access relevant data.
  • Your knowledge and experience in monitoring and evaluation or impact assessment, including knowledge of both quantitative and qualitative research methods are top notch
  • Your organizational skills are commendable, and you approach your work with a methodical and structured approach.
  • You create reports and dashboards using data visualization software packages (e.g. Power BI, Tableau).


Other things you need to know:

  • Periodic travel to Black Boys Codes sites across Canada throughout the year may be required.
  • The position is a full-time two-year contract.
  • Evening and weekend work may be required, with a higher frequency during special events or chapter launches.
  • This position will be Remote to Ontario Canada and will require on-site appearances for events.
  • To work with children, it is mandatory to successfully pass a Vulnerable Sector background check.
