Position Overview:
Responsible for identifying and researching and evaluating properties of architectural and / or historical significance; preparing building evaluation and designation reports, participating in Heritage Vaughan and other committees as assigned, administering activities / programs and preparing associated agenda items and reports for committees’ review. Provide recommendations on the administration, assessment and preservation the City’s heritage and cultural resources, including City-owned heritage structures, archaeological assessment requirements, development of heritage / corporate arts and culture policies, programs, revenue sources / funding and budget preparation. Develops and implements cultural heritage programs in the community.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Thorough working knowledge of the Ontario Heritage Act, Planning Act, Building Code and Canadian Architectural History.
- Minimum three (3) years' experience in primary source research and heritage conservation.
- University Degree in Architecture, Architectural History, Planning or suitable equivalent.
- Availability to work flexible hours; some evening work will be required.
- Valid Ontario Class "G" driver's license, in good standing and a reliable vehicle to use on corporate business.
- Excellent marketing, communication, interpersonal, research and report writing skills.
