Location: Our office is located in Toronto, Ontario; however, this position can be located anywhere in Canada with flexible / hybrid / and remote work arrangements available. About the position:We are currently hiring for a temporary parental leave replacement position of Marketing Communications Officer. This role plays a key role in advancing and stewarding the CFCC brand in order to inspire engagement and support across the country, as well as to establish CFCC as a trusted voice on food insecurity, equity and poverty. The Marketing Communications Officer is responsible for in-house design of high quality design materials, tools, and resources. The successful candidate will have exceptional skills in visual communications and demonstrated experience managing creative projects from start to finish, including managing the work of external vendors. The position will also play a supporting role in CFCC’s organizational brand refresh, as well as support with ongoing brand management. ResponsibilitiesDesign & brand advisory
  • Oversee creative aspects of cross-team projects that involve design, photography, videography;
  • Lead in template creation for cross-departmental needs
  • Design and develop engaging, professional omni-channel materials, including branded templates, infographics, email headers, social media graphics, program and development assets, slide decks, etc.;
  • Act as a brand advisor, both internally with CFCC’s Programs, Development and Policy teams and externally with partner Community Food Centres;
  • Build and manage relationships with external vendors providing creative services to CFCC.
Brand management
  • Support CFCC’s organizational brand refresh
  • CFCC brand assets, such as logo files
  • Advise on interim branding needs for sub-brands
  • Annual partner supports and branding materials.
  • CFCC branded materials across all departments
  • Support with auditing, organizing and refreshing:
Content collection, curation & maintenance Support implementation of CFCC’s ethical storytelling and content collection process. Including:
  • Research and implement best practices for multimedia sharing and consent process management;
  • Ongoing Google Drive & document maintenance
  • Manage and maintain CFCC’s photography and storytelling database, including consent tracking;
  • Lead on annual photography initiatives, working closely with Programs staff and partner Community Food Centres;
Administrative support
  • Support the curation and sharing of communications updates
  • Track budget and submit invoices

QualificationsThe ideal candidate is a creative, critical thinker who’s eager to work in a fast-paced environment. An activist who wants to see social change and understands how communications help to propel the mission.
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office and Google Suite
  • Proficient with web-based design tools, including Canva
  • Sophisticated abilities in design and visual communications and proven commitment to brand consistency
  • A minimum of five years of experience working in brand communications, visual communications, and/or marketing roles
  • Undergraduate degree or equivalent combination of related education and experience
  • Proficiency with MacOS
  • Solution-driven with an ability to self-motivate and work as part of an ambitious, collaborative team
  • A positive attitude is key for this role as it requires working across teams and being receptive and responsive to feedback
  • Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite, with professional experience working in Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator and Adobe InDesign
  • Ability to manage and output files according to the professional standard of the final product (e.g. for web or for print)
  • Superior time management and organizational skills and ability to prioritize, multi-task and meet tight deadlines
  • Strong project management skills, with proven experience overseeing design projects and managing graphic designers, photographers, and/or videographers
Assets:
  • Knowledge of HTML/CSS is considered an asset
  • Fluency in both English and French is considered an asset
  • Experience working in mission-driven organizations is a strong asset
