Title: Cost Manager

Location: Onsite - Beamsville, ON. CANADA

Description:

This position will support both accounting and sales functions and report to the Business Unit Controller.The purpose of this position is to educate business owners on the cost of manufactured products and assess the cost of labour, both in house and in the field.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Prepare ad-hoc reports as needed.
• Prepare regular inventory account reconciliations of inventory records to general ledger accounts.Resolve discrepancies as they appear.
• Oversee annual physical inventories or implement a robust cycle counting program to eliminate the need for the annual physical.
• Prepare budget to actual analysis for large customer orders.
• Conduct billing activities for all orders.This includes projects that span several months and require progress billing.
• Develop or modify production reports, analyze bills of materials routings.
• Provide cost estimates for projects and review historical trends to continuously refine this estimation process.
• Aid in the preparation of customer quotes working with Quoting team and Project Managers to review project-specific financial data and provide recommendations for cost optimization.
• Assist Plant Controller in all budgeting and forecasting activities (project forecast, cash forecast, annual budget/forecast, etc.)
• Analyze and report on budgeted costs vs actual costs to maintain appropriate gross margins. Provide actionable insights based on findings.
• Investigate, analyze and report on manufacturing costs and variances including: purchase price variance, margins, absorption, product mix, manufacturing variances and other costing metrics.
• Assist Plant Controller in month-end close, year-end close, and auditing.
• Responsible for billing of Install and Service Labour on a weekly basis to the respective project.
• Prepare product line profitability statements.
• Review and approve costing of new product additions in a timely manner.
• Work with inventory management team to ensure accurate valuation and tracking of materials and finished goods.

Education & Qualifications:

• Ability to prepare reports, memos, business correspondence and communicate effectively with all levels of the organization.
• Ability to demonstrate strong oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to prepare charts graphs, and tables into audio/visual presentation and deliver information in front of audience.
• CPA preferred.
• Proficient computer skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
• Experience with ERP software preferred but not required.
• Ability to shift thought processes quickly and accurately from one project to another.
• Ability to define problems, assimilate data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions that take into consideration resources, constraints, and organizational values.
• Degree in accounting or equivalent required.
• Experience five to seven years in cost accounting in a production environment.

Remuneration:

The position is salary based and remuneration will be negotiated based on knowledge, skills and education. Vacation time and standard health benefit package are offered after successful completion of probationary period.
