The Opportunity:

The Corporate Controller will be an important member of the ApplyBoard Finance team. In this role, you will be responsible for accounting and internal controls to support ApplyBoard’s global businesses and will report to the Chief Financial Officer. You will also be expected to work directly with Executive leadership, General Counsel and other leaders throughout the business on a regular basis. The role is a remote role and requires occasional travel to ApplyBoard’s head office in Kitchener, Ontario, Canada.

The Corporate Controller will be responsible for overseeing IFRS and US GAAP general accounting functions, developing and improving internal accounting controls, and building and developing a strong accounting team. The successful candidate for this position will play an instrumental role in the financial future of the company.

This role requires a candidate who can quickly become familiar with the ApplyBoard business model in all markets, be able to apply this knowledge to analyze specific accounting processes and work with stakeholders to implement or modify scalable systems, processes, and controls. What you’ll be doing every day:

• Key involvement in implementing and maintaining a SOX 404 compliance program
• Support and maintain the company’s ERP accounting data, while improving processes and controls and determining business changes globally
• Oversee the day-to-day accounting operations, including: global controllership, general ledger and consolidations, foreign exchange, technical accounting, financial reporting, and audit management.
• Provide informative reporting for the Board of Directors, Executive management, and functional managers.
• Contribute to the ongoing enhancement of internal controls as well as written policies and procedures in compliance with IFRS and/or US GAAP, including through automation and other efficiencies
• Optimize working capital through the order to cash and procure to pay cycle
• Ensure timely preparation of internal and external financial statements on a monthly, quarterly and annual basis
• Manage all Audit Committee materials and present them to the audit committee.
• Coordinating activities of external auditors

What you bring to the table:

• Abstract thinking & problem-solving skills
• Multi-national and/or listed company experience an asset
• Demonstrated experience in developing and managing internal controls and SOX 404
• Experience in managing a midsize team
• 15+ years accounting leadership experience in an enterprise environment, with prior Big Four experience.
• Degree in Accounting, Finance or Economics and a CPA are required
• Demonstrated expertise with tools such as Microsoft Office/GSuite skills required (Excel including Pivot Tables & VLOOKUPs, Google Sheets, PowerPoint/GoogleSlides, Word/GoogleDoc)
• Education or technology company experience an asset
• Able to work independently or as a supportive and collaborative team leader
• Attention to detail resulting in “0-defect” analysis
• Proactive and goal-oriented individual
