Job Description

Our client is looking for a Controller to join their dynamic team. As the Controller you will play a pivotal role in overseeing financial operations, ensuring compliance, and providing strategic insights to support the company's growth and financial health. You will report directly to the CFO and work collaboratively with a growing finance team.


Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to the development of financial strategies to drive growth and profitability.
  • Collaborate with the CFO to assess financial performance and risks related to the acquisition.
  • Transition into a more strategic FP&A role within a year, focusing on forecasting, budgeting, and providing data-driven insights to support business decisions.
  • Ensure accurate and timely financial statement preparation, including FX considerations for consolidated financials.
  • Coordinate with external auditors and tax advisors during the year-end audit process.
  • Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger activities.
  • Collaborate with the CFO to provide financial analysis and insights for key business decisions.
  • Train and support the finance team in optimizing Sage Intacct for financial operations.
  • Manage the day-to-day financial operations of the company, including financial reporting, budgeting, and forecasting.
  • Participate in the hiring process to expand the finance team as needed.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards and regulations.
  • Utilize your expertise with Sage Intacct to address any system issues, ensuring accurate financial data.
  • Lead and mentor a team of finance professionals, including Senior Accountants.
  • Foster a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement within the finance department.
  • Assist in the integration of financial processes and systems as part of the ongoing acquisition.


Qualifications:

  • Ability to thrive in a fully remote work environment and adapt to change.
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. CPA designation is required.
  • Excellent leadership and team management skills.
  • Strategic thinking and a demonstrated ability to drive process improvements.
  • 1-2 years of experience as an Accounting Manager, with a strong preference for SAAS industry experience.
  • Proficiency in Sage Intacct or similar accounting software is essential.
  • Strong understanding of Canadian and US accounting principles and FX considerations.
  • Strong communication skills to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
