Our new client is looking to bring on a Controller for their long-standing, family-run, general contracting business, located near Fernie, BC.
This person will be passionate about working hands-on with a team to complete day-to-day , and will work closely with external accountants to ensure all financials are prepared, reported, and submitted appropriately.
The ideal candidate will have a collaborative spirit and be confident to bring forth ideas promoting business growth and improvements based on their previous experience.
Duties and Responsibilities:
The key job functions are:
- Processing payroll collecting daily timesheets for 25 employees
- Preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting for external accountants
- Other duties as assigned
- Coding, entering, and processing invoices
- Full cycle accounting (accounts payable and receivable)
Education:
- Professional Accounting Designation (CPA, CMA, CA, etc.) is ideal
- Post-secondary education, majoring in accounting or related field
Qualifications:
- High proficiency in Sage 50 and MS Office (specifically Excel)
- Successfully complete a criminal background check
- Valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle is required
Experience:
- Minimum 5 years as a controller or relevant accounting experience
- Construction industry experience is considered a huge asset
Skills:

Base Salary: $80,000 – $120,000 per year
- Comprehensive benefits package (3-month probationary period)
Work Hours:
- 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM
- 40 hours per week
- Monday – Friday
Remote Work:
- This position is not remote. You are required to be on site.
