York United FC is searching for an enthusiastic, outgoing and community-minded individual to join our front office. The ideal candidate will exemplify our values and mission, and always have a team-first attitude. Our goals are high, and we require someone who is able to meet these goals head-on. A Community Engagement Coordinator will be primarily responsible for the activities and programs that we build with local organizations that facilitate a broad variety of impact strategies. This may include local youth soccer events, social impact campaigns, player and team integrated activities and awareness campaigns/events, both around the region and in stadium during matches. However, we are a small team and you will have the opportunity to learn and participate in many facets of the front office.
This role will be primarily in-office but may have flexibility to work remotely some of the time. Reliable transportation is required as events will be around York Region and the GTA. This position is full time (40 hours per week) and will require match day attendance.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The expectation is the candidate will be active and responsible for the following areas:
- Amateur soccer development
- Assist in the execution of all CPL league-wide community programs.
- Youth soccer partner programs
- Serve as a liaison between the organization and our community partners to support the development of new relationships and growth of existing partnerships.
- Skills Sessions
- Support the planning, coordination, and execution of promotional campaigns that require player and coach involvement including photoshoots, video shoots, and guest appearances for both internal and third-party events.
- Health and wellness programs
- Coaching Clinics
- Maintain orderly and updated records of all community plans, processes, and events.
- Fulfill prizing and charitable donation requests
- Support the planning, setup, and execution of community events.This includes autograph signings, speaking engagements, and guest appearances.
- Develop and nurture new and existing relationships with key community stakeholders, including the local government, local school boards, and community organizations
- Assist in the development, implementation and execution of all community programming, including but not limited to:
- Youth Soccer Clinics
- Assist in the execution of all amateur soccer activities including but not limited to:
- Research new opportunities for grassroots marketing initiatives where we can establish a presence and engage at local events and festivals year-round throughout our region.
- Social responsibility programs
- Direct liaison with soccer operations as it relates to player engagement.
- Equity, diversity, and inclusion initiatives
- Support the community ticket donation program with local non-profit organizations
- Coordinate process and execution with other departments as necessary on all community related player appearances
- Liaise with Supporter Groups
- High School Soccer Showcase
MEASUREMENTS OF SUCCESS
- Works effectively with internal stakeholders to streamline processes and sets up all community programming for success
- Creates new community programming and partnerships, while tangibly growing existing relationships and programming
QUALIFICATIONS (KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES, EXPERIENCE)
Job Specific Skills and Abilities:
- Organization (must be highly organized and able to manage time, budgets and schedules)
- Interdependence (understand the responsibilities within the larger team)
- Experience in event coordination
- Communication (MUST be able to effectively communicate with everyone involved in the programs and events)
- Is positive, outgoing and enjoys engaging in the community!
Assets:
- Post-secondary education in Recreation, Event Management or similar field
- Previous experience in sports or community relations
- Knowledge of York Region and its communities
Term:
- Salary will be based on previous experience
- Permanent
- Full time (40 hours per week)
OTHER CONSIDERATIONS:
- Will be required to have access to a vehicle at all times
- Will be required to travel and work evenings and weekends when necessary
