About WCT
Established in 1991, Women in Communications and Technology (WCT) is a Canadian coast-to-coast non-profit organization that inspires and supports women to achieve their highest career potential in Canada’s tech-enabled industries.
WCT’s Vision and Mission
- Our vision is gender equality in all tech-enabled roles in Canada.
- Our mission is to empower self-identifying women to reach their full career potential.
- We do this by helping employers attract, retain and develop women leaders.
About the Role
It is an exciting time at WCT. We are currently in the middle of a strategic refresh and are developing a new roadmap for the coming years. This includes a complete overhaul of our online presence and current offerings to ensure they are relevant, engaging and meaningful to our sponsors and members.
Reporting to the Director of Marketing and Sales, our Content Marketing Manager will be responsible for organic growth, content engagement, and brand collateral. You'll work closely with key stakeholders across the organization to build a full funnel content machine that puts our members' needs first. This role is perfect if you want to dive deep into all aspects of content marketing from social media to white papers and everything in between. You're an exceptional storyteller. You possess both strong copywriting and basic design and video editing skills.
Here's how you'll make a difference:
- You will own our brand voice and position us as a thought leader: You will help us carve out a distinct voice for WCT, and work with our network of gender and diversity experts to inform our content and gradually build us a reputation as a thought leader in this space.
- You will drive more organic traffic: You will use your knowledge of SEO and social media algorithms to drive up our organic traffic. You will develop key downloadable assets that are of interest to our members.
- You will own and fully level up our social media strategy: You will manage and create content for our social media platforms (starting with LinkedIn but branching out to other channels as needed). You will create and edit micro-videos, polls, carousel posts, and other content to engage our audience. Monitor social media channels and engage in two-way conversations with our audience. You will ensure our voice is informed, has an opinion and resonates with self-identifying women in the workplace on issues that matter to them.
- You will be the lead on all copywriting: You will work to make our copy higher quality and, and keep our positioning clear. You'll be the creative and copywriter for our website and other key brand assets. Working with our key stakeholders, you will make sure our copy says who we are, what we're doing, and why members and sponsors would want to engage with us. You will take an iterative approach, refining over time as you see what gains traction.
- You will own our annual content calendar: You will work with the GTM and CS teams to develop an annual calendar of content, taking the lead on these. This will include everything from email campaigns, regular newsletters, quarterly launches, Sponsor-branded marketing materials, etc.
- You will create templates for our regional chapters to use: You will leverage tools like Canva to create on-brand templates and campaigns for our regional chapters to use.
- You will plan, create, and share compelling content across all our digital marketing channels to grow our audience, position us as a thought leader, and engage our member base: At the highest level, this role is all about developing content strategies that drive engagement, build brand awareness, and help us achieve our marketing goals.
What you bring to the team:
Note: At WCT, we know that women and equity-deserving groups may not apply to a role if they do not feel they possess all of the qualifications. Please use the below as a guide and apply if you think you would bring value to this role.
