What you'll be doing:


As a member of the Capacity Management Team within Technology Operations you will be accountable for leading capacity related initiatives and be responsible to evaluate, document and recommend support for application release into operations with the seamless integration of existing CIBC products/services and new emerging technologies.


The role drives awareness of risk at the enterprise level with linkages to existing technologies, policies, and procedures, assisting in supporting the Bank’s Risk appetite. You will apply leadership and relationship management skills to manage client and external partner expectations in compliance with regulatory controls, standards, operational or application specific requirements. As a Consultant you will own the end-to-end process of planning, analyzing, sizing, and optimizing capacity of our environments, to satisfy demand in a timely manner and at a reasonable cost, and support the application releases into operations. Acting as a steward who assesses the operational risks ACA/ICA (Application Capacity Assessments / Infrastructure Capacity Assessments) associated with new and enhanced applications and infrastructure capabilities.

How you will succeed:


  • Relationship Management - Develop and foster relationships with Technology, Infrastructure and Innovation teams to identify client needs and align operational delivery to support solutioning and manage fulfillment of those needs. Well-developed presentation and communication skills, both written and verbal, to convey ongoing changes/improvements in the operational area. Accountable for balancing the evolving needs & capabilities of a multitude of stakeholders; training partners on capacity issues, address capacity gaps in operational volumes, and ensuring role-design accountabilities for capacity in multiple complex platforms.
  • Client Engagement – Work collaboratively and pro-actively within the Capacity Management team, guide Portfolio Leads and Service Providers through all phases of the application and/or infrastructure development ACA/ICA lifecycle, as it is operationalized, tested and released to production.
  • Capacity Management – Govern capacity management activities of service providers (DXC and Bell). Proactively analyze capacity data to discover trends and underlying potential capacity issues and perform enterprise capacity management activities across all platforms , servers, Mainframe, NonStop, iSeries/network. Knowledge of capacity management principles is an asset, including providing operational leadership on valued advice, resource planning, initiatives & projects planning, while best optimizing client experience to mitigate risk. Participate and provide insight on projects as they are reported on for capacity capabilities during Gating assessments for management
  • Analyzing Business Requirements - Create and maintain capacity reports in capacity reporting portal and present findings to technical and management audiences. Research and analyze specialized information and recommend solutions to issues that arise during normal business operations, considering factors while creating plans like application complexity, underlying infrastructure supporting the application, level of accuracy required.
  • Analytical - You give meaning to data and are a confident decision maker with the ability to embed and sustain in the overall view of the organization, while mitigating risk and optimizing service. Review application and infrastructure documentation and graphical representation of metrics/data to ensure they meet quality standards.


Who You Are


  • You can demonstrate 5 to 7 years experience leading capacity related initiatives, monitoring CPU usage, analyzing application utilization reports. Performing enterprise capacity management activities across platforms like servers, Mainframe, NonStop, iSeries, and networks.

  • You can demonstrate 4+ years experience in capacity assessments for application and infrastructure release planning with domain expertise in either: Windows, UNIX, UNTEL, Network, or Mainframe I IT Operations.

  • You can demonstrate 4+ years of experience in IT Service Management processes including: Change Management, Incident Management, Problem Management, and IT Infrastructure components and principles for Cloud and Network environments
