Job Description
Reports To: CEO
About the Company: Founded in 1966, Paul Davis Restoration is an industry leader in emergency restoration and reconstruction for insurance providers and both commercial and residential properties, with over 370 independently owned and operated franchises throughout the U.S. and Canada. Whether a home or business is damaged by water/flood, fire, mold, wind, or other disasters, Paul Davis professionals are available 24/7 to provide extraordinary care while serving people in their time of need. Paul Davis Restoration of Metro NY/NJ, one of the largest franchisees within the Paul Davis network, is headquartered in Queens, NY and has an additional office in Bergen County, NJ. We serve the broader New York Metropolitan Area and Northeastern New Jersey. We have been consistently growing and are looking for a proven leader who wants purpose out of their work to join the senior executive team. Our Values: Deliver what you promise. Respect the individual. Have pride in what you do. Practice continuous improvement. Our Vision: To provide extraordinary care while serving people in their time of need. Our Mission: To provide opportunities for great people to deliver Best in Class results.
About the Role: Are you a proactive, assertive, and process-oriented leader? Do you enjoy working in an environment that allows for independence, freedom, and change? If so, then this is the perfect position for you! The CFO is an energetic leader responsible for managing, improving, and scaling the financial and operational foundations of the company, enabling the business to achieve extensive and sustainable growth. The CFO is not only accountable for all aspects of the company’s financial operations but will also serve as a strategic thought leader for the company, a “right-hand partner” for the CEO, a problem-solver, and a key member of the executive team.
This is a “true CFO” position, not a glorified controller. The right candidate will be an entrepreneurial leader/operator who is obsessed about building a great company! While we operate in a “boring” blue-collar industry, we see a tremendous opportunity to bring professionalization and consolidation to a recession-resistant but fragmented industry. The executive team has the commitment and drive to achieve its ambitious long-term goals. The CFO may be based in either our Queens, NY office or Carlstadt, NJ office. Responsibilities include:
  • Provide strategic direction for short-term and long-term financial planning, including budgeting, capital management, and organizational development.
  • Support CEO in evaluating and pursuing long-term growth opportunities, both organic and inorganic.
  • Manage HR staff for compliance with Federal, State and Local Laws.
  • Manage external relationships including service providers, banks, franchisor, etc. Lead insurance broker interactions including renewal documentation, audit preparation and completion, and operational control of any insurance related activities.
  • Oversee development, implementation and enforcement of financial policies, procedures, and internal controls, including future policies and procedures that would enhance the fiscal and general operations of all departments in the company.
  • Oversee all financial activity, lead annual and month end financial accounting closes, and create KPIs and scorecards to enable the executive team to drive performance across the entire company.
  • Manage and mentor an internal team of accounting and administrative staff. Serve as a culture carrier and help build a cohesive, top-performing team that will underpin the company’s continued growth.
Qualifications:
  • At least 5 years of experience in a financial management position.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills.
  • A hands-on, results-oriented leader who can drive the company towards its vision and goals while anticipating “roadblocks” and juggling multiple workflows and conflicting priorities.
  • High degree of computer proficiency including Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and QuickBooks or other accounting software.
  • Impeccable character with an uncompromising commitment to honesty, integrity, and loyalty.
  • Prior experience in a contractor or construction-related industry (and familiarity with work-in-progress accounting) a plus, but not a requirement.
  • Career emphasis on learning and continuous improvement.
  • Exceptional attention to details, analytical skills, and organizational skills.
  • Hungry and self-motivated problem-solver, with a strong sense of accountability and ownership.
Benefits:
  • Generous monthly cell phone allowance, car allowance, gas and toll reimbursements, etc.
  • Compensation Range: $120k to >$200k, consisting of a combination of base salary, stipends, year-end bonus, performance-based bonus, and/or profit-sharing.
  • 401(k) with company matching.
  • PTO, sick days, and paid holidays.
  • Health insurance (medical, dental, and vision coverage offered), disability insurance, and HSA.
We are an Equal Opportunity Employer, and we also love to support and hire Veterans!
