Backup Administrator Jobs

Responsibilities :-

1. Providing Expert Level Support on Netbackup

2. Strong experience in Disaster Recovery Efforts

3. Adhering to SLAs defined by the business/client

4. Mentoring team members and training them for newer features/technologies

5. Guiding team members in case of Technical/Operational Problems and Issues

6. Handling Incidents related to backups

7. Performing root cause analysis for backup severity one issues

8. Planning and Implementing Change Requests

9. Troubleshooting technical issues related to backups and handling escalations from the team

members

10. Ensuring that the processes are adhered to while working on any problem incident/change request

11. Responsible for successful completion of Installation and configuration of backup software

upgrades/patches etc.

12. Responsible for building / maintaining a test environment along with the team

13. Improves and maintains customer and employee satisfaction by the way of quality in the day to day

tasks

14. Planning/Testing new technologies and design changes as and when applicable

15. Planning the overall Backup/Restoration Strategy for 24x7 operation support

16. Understanding of Multi-Geo support environment and ensuring that the team is in-line to the

industry

17. Responsible for building and maintaining test environment

18. Responsible for strategizing a backup plan and test plan for failure scenario

19. Testing/Auditing/Processes as required from time to time

20. Identify Skill Gaps and plan for training and knowledge updating

21. Prepare and onboarding plan for all new members coming to the team for training and KT

Technical Requirements

Storage Management Administrator - Veritas backup Exec Admin

Maintain backup solutions and Manage storage solution

Provide 3rd level technical support, guidance and direction for products supported.

Analyze and resolve or escalated problems.

Audit application backup policies and environments to ensure integrity of backup and recovery activities.

Participate in the recovery of application environments where required.

Ensure integrity of supported environment.

Actively and pre-emptively determine possible faults and causes by the execution of pre-determined health and operational checks.

Manage and resolve problems identified by sys admins or monitoring software

Work with change and problem management tools

Hardware /software fault detection and vendor liaison

Liaise with customer accounts as required

Optimizing Media Consumption

Patching on Backup/Restore Tool

Scripting / Automation of Major/ Complex Tasks

Recovery of Backup/Restore Servers from failure

Integrating with other tools: Enterprise Management Systems

Planning and Implementing Security for Backup & Restore Tools

Design Reports on backup usage and performance

Documentation describing hardware setups & diagrams

Documentation of Operational procedures and processes

Should be able to mentor L1 and L2 Backup Admins

Analyze and resolve escalated problems within target.

Investigate, identify and document proposals that will improve application recoverability.

Document and implement changes to technical standards as required.

Change and problem management targets are exceeded

Ensure that customer satisfactory levels are exceeded

5 Years of experience Required

Installation and configuration Backup Exec/ Arcserve

Sound Knowledge of Storage Libraries

Hands-on experience on configuring tape-drives, scheduling backup jobs/policies

Experience in managing media pools, critical restorations, database management

Experience in installing, configuring and managing various Backup Agents

Knowledge on Disaster-Recovery

Technical Details

Veritas Backup Exec 8.6, 9.0, 10.6

System administration skills in Windows

Administration of Tape Libraries like StorageTek, HP, Dell

Basic understanding of SAN/NAS architecture

Good working knowledge of MS OFFICE (Including MS Project and Visio)

Should have a great customer handling skills

Able to handle unforeseen situations

High level of acceptance

Can drive HCL’s value and its methodology

Other Skills / Experience

Worked on Production systems

Experience with Backup Migration, Installation, Upgrades and Patching

Datacenter understanding

Knowledge of Other Backup tools is a Plus

Experience in training new team members

Working Knowledge on Remedy or any other ticketing client

Total : Above 10+ Years of experience

Relavant : Minimum of 5+ yrs in Backup Administration / Support

Certification requirements

Veritas Backup Exec 8.6, 9.0, 10.6(Essential), Any other Backup Technology( Desired )
