This position will report to the Director, Technology and Operations within the Assurance and Advisory (“A&A”) team and will be a key team member providing independent advisory and assurance services on an enterprise-wide basis. In this role, you will be focused on maximizing the value delivered by the A&A Group across a wide range of groups and strategic projects selected via a risk-based approach.

You will be working collaboratively with our business and technology partners to help instill a risk and control discipline in their core activities. With a curious mind, you’ll have the opportunity to learn from and provide actionable recommendation on all CPP Investments most critical initiatives. You will provide experience, technical knowledge to evolve the perceived value of our expertise across the organization.

You will have the best and most strategic enterprise-wide view on both new initiatives as well as existing Investment and Core Services operations. You will work with Risk Management Functions and other control groups to strengthen CPP Investments risk management and internal control infrastructure on a sustained basis. You will work directly with business partners and opine on governance and control best practices for CPP Investments. Working in close collaboration with your colleagues in the A&A Group, you will directly contribute to the development and refinement of our audit strategies and methodologies. By helping reinforce the linkage between our assurance and advisory activities, you will lead by example and help increase our reach, improve our services, and strengthen our impact and influence on an enterprise-wide basis.

Role-Specific Accountabilities:

Audit Planning & Execution

• Identify risks and controls, conclude on the effectiveness of controls, and determines how the effectiveness of the internal controls affects achievement of CPP Investments objectives and compliance with corporate policies, procedures, and external regulations.
• Develop and maintain open lines of communication with management and other key stakeholders (e.g., external auditors), by working collaboratively and constructively.
• Document the testing in working papers to support the work performed
• Testing of IT general controls (network, operating systems, application, database(s), and user developed applications).
• Leverage data analytics tools and scripts (e.g., Tableau, Python, etc.) to perform control testing and/or identify insights on engagements.
• Present and discuss audit findings and recommendations to the engagement lead and relevant parties during the audit.
• Develop scripts and execute script-based testing (e.g., application controls, key reports, data conversion, etc.).
• Support the production of informative, concise and value adding engagement reports and/or management letters, as well as reports to the Audit Committee.
• Execute audits which include conducting interviews and reviewing supporting documentation with a focus on Technology and Data related elements of the audits.

Relationship Building

• Foster and maintain effective working relationships with key stakeholders on assigned engagements
• Collaborate with engagement team members to effectively execute assurance and advisory activities as required.

Qualifications

Education & Professional Certifications

• Undergraduate degree required in accounting/Business Administration, Finance Information Technology and Data related field or equivalent experience.
• Relevant professional designations are strongly preferred (e.g., CPA, CISA, CIA).
• Data Analytics or other programming related certifications are preferred (e.g., Tableau, Microsoft Power BI, Python, etc.).

Professional Experience

• Strong track record of success demonstrated through 4-5 years of progressive experience in Internal/External Audit, Technology / Data Analytics and/or Risk Management experience at large and complex financial institutions or investment companies; previous consulting experience is a plus.
• Ability to analyze situations, reach appropriate conclusions and make value-added and practical recommendations.
• Experience in the development and use of Data & Analytics for auditing, i.e., scoping, scrip-based testing, and visualization.
• Knowledge of audit methodologies, Information Technology frameworks, project management and risk management practices preferably in the investment management or related financial services areas.
• Knowledge in Information & Cybersecurity and Robotic Process Automation frameworks and controls is a plus.
• Broad knowledge and experience in the technology and operations that support investment/ asset management companies and strong understanding of the risk implications of the technology and operations on the business.
