Job Description

Royal Vancouver Yacht Club (RVYC) is one of the world's premier yacht clubs and the finest in Vancouver. Our mission is to promote yachting, seamanship, and fellowship among current members and those who share our values of tradition, sportsmanship, and community service, among many others.


ABOUT THE ROLE

TheAssistant Controllerwill play a key role in maintaining the accountability of the club’s financial resources and ensuring the accuracy of the financial records. The ideal candidate will be ready for the next step in their career and will possess a strong background inaccounting, payroll, and customer service.


QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • 5-7 years experience in payroll and accounting, preferably in a hospitality setting.
  • Experience in customer service, or guest/member relations.
  • Formal education in Accounting (Bachelor’s degree is preferred).
  • High level of proficiency with all Microsoft Office applications
  • Knowledge of the private club industry considered an asset.
  • High level working knowledge of computerized accounting systems required.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide training, support, and development to accounting staff.
  • Process salaried and hourly payroll and resolves all payroll related issues.
  • Act as the key point of contact for payroll in the implementation of a new HRIS.
  • Provide back up support for Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable as required.
  • Other duties and projects as assigned.
  • Assist with year-end audit.
  • Attend committee meetings and liaise with Club Members, the Board of Directors, and external parties.
  • Assist in the preparation of accurate and timely financial statements.
  • Ensure club’s financial policies are implemented and followed.
  • Prepare and post journal entries, perform bank reconciliations, and all balance sheet reconciliations.

SALARY/BENEFITS

  • $65,000+ per year commensurate with experience.
