ORGANIZATIONAL BACKGROUND
The Mental Health Commission of Canada (MHCC) is a non-profit organization created to focus national attention on mental health issues and to work to improve the health and social outcomes of people living with mental illness.
The Commission is seen as a leader nationally and internationally in several areas. Building upon the work done to date, the core mandate, and the unique position of the Commission, and guided by Changing Directions Changing Lives: The Mental Health Strategy for Canada, the Commission will focus in the areas of substance use, suicide prevention, population-based initiatives, and engagement. This prioritization will enable the Commission to be successful in meeting its mandate, staying focused, and having a measurable impact for those living with mental illness and their families and caregivers.
POSITION OVERVIEW
Opening Minds designs, develops, and delivers mental well-being related courses to Canadians in all sectors and regions. Our Program Development Team is responsible for all aspects of new course development from inception to final hand-over for delivery. A fundamental tool to engage learners and encourage behaviour change is through video-based content, scenarios, and sector-specific statistics. This includes testimonial videos as well as scripted scenarios. Each Opening Minds course has multiple videos, scenarios, and sets of statistics.
Currently, we are organizing, building, and improving our library of assets. There are additional sectors, clients, and opportunities on the horizon, and we want to make sure we are ready to meet the demand. This includes building our library of effective and intentional videos, scenarios, and statistics to be used by facilitators to deliver the courses. The Asset Coordinator will be responsible for executing all asset development projects for Opening Minds From inception to final review.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Organization: Ensure quality and relevance of existing asset librarythrough identifying, tagging, and assigning videos, scenarios, and statistics for facilitator use
- Support the development and organization of our digital asset management system and content guidelines.
- Communication: Serve as the main point of contact between clients, creative teams, and vendors, ensuring that all parties are informed about project timelines, budgets, and any changes in the scope of the project.
- Script development: Work with clients and creative teams to coordinate the development of scripts, storyboards, and concepts that align with Opening Minds’ learning outcomes.
- Other duties as required.
- Troubleshooting: Identify and resolve any issues that arise during the asset production process, ensuring that the project stays on track and meets all deadlines.
- Quality control: Ensure that all assets are produced to the highest quality standards, meet the client's expectations, and comply with legal and ethical guidelines.
- Project Coordination: Coordinate the production process of asset development projects from pre-production to post-production, ensuring timely delivery of high-quality content including reference groups, scheduling, and invoicing
QUALIFICATIONS
- Degree or diploma in a related field or relevant experience in project management and/or digital asset management.; A combination of education and relevant experience will be considered.
SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
- Experience coordinating projects with multiple stakeholders and vendors on tight timelines.
- Bilingualism in both official languages (written and verbal) is a strong asset.
- Knowledge of the video production process, including pre-production, production, and post-production phases is an asset.
- Ability to support the creative development of concepts and ideas that align with our learning outcomes.
- Strong project management skills, ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.
- Experience with digital asset management systems
- Strong communication skills to coordinate with clients, vendors, and the production team effectively.
- Ability to adapt to changing priorities and requirements and solve problems creatively and efficiently.
- Familiarity with creative content licensing
- Technical skills, including knowledge of video editing software, cameras, lighting, and other equipment used in video production.
- Experience with content guidelines development or implementation
- Strong attention to detail to ensure all aspects of video production, such as script, sound, lighting, and camera angles, are of high quality.

PHYSICAL/COGNITIVE DEMANDS
- Must be able to work effectively from home including the availability of reliable internet and working environment (desk, chair etc.); please note that the Commission does not reimburse for internet, utilities or other home office type expenses including desks, chairs etc.
- Moderate analytical and interpretive requirements
- Extended periods of time spent in sitting position (computer work, meetings etc. 5 plus hours)
- Moderate periods of time spent in virtual meeting-type settings.
- Must be comfortable working virtually with minimal supervision.
- Highly attentive to details.
- Low level exposure to extended travel requirements (up to 10% and greater at times) and extension of workday beyond 7.5 hours
- Extended visual requirements (5 plus hours) due to computer related work
