Reporting to the Manager, People Services, this role is an integral part of an evolving People Services business service, which has a strategic objective of managing the day-to-day and overall employee lifecycle.


Key Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:


  • Ability to manage and interpret complex union agreement language
  • Building and maintenance of various data feed files or payout calculations
  • Special projects as required
  • Support and payroll processing
  • Learn and apply payroll legislative requirements
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Outlook/Office/Excel (Solid Intermediate Level with knowledge of using Macros, VLOOKUP, Pivot Table)
  • Respond to all payroll related inquiries in a timely and professional manner using our Service Now ticket system
  • Advanced analytics capabilities to help the team and the business succeed with a keen eye towards accurate data
  • Report writing and maintenance in various financial systems


Qualifications; the ideal candidate will possess the following skills:


  • Ability to work flexible hours when required
  • Computer programming knowledge and/or experience
  • Strong oral and written communication skills and the ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization
  • Payroll certification through the Canadian Payroll Association or equivalent experience
  • Time management skills, with the ability to prioritize and multitask daily activities in a fast-paced environment
  • Above average continuous improvement skills
  • Post-secondary education in a related field such as computer science, human resources, data analytics etc
  • High level of attention to detail
