Stationed at the intersection of financial operations, an Accounting and Payroll Specialist at Appficiency inc. will have the opportunity to drive meaningful innovations and make compelling contributions in a fast-paced environment.


The Talent


You are a motivated self-starter with a deep understanding of accounting principles. You are known for your desire to succeed, you work well under pressure, have excellent attention to detail and you understand the need to be flexible with respect to changing priorities and deadlines. You have a high aptitude for numbers and quantitative skills.


The Commitment


  • Support collection process
  • Identifying and performing necessary journal entries is a plus
  • Spearheading the implementation and ongoing maintenance and compliance of new processes
  • Engaging in relationship management with customers in terms of accounts receivable
  • Support with client onboarding for Appficiency
  • Evaluating business admin processes on an ongoing basis to identify emerging needs or improvements as the business continues to grow
  • Support employee termination process
  • Lead the training and development of staff on new processes
  • Conducting monthly audits on inbound and outbound invoices
  • Support Bank reconciliation for company accounts
  • File company credit card receipts and invoices. Booking journal entries of the credit card expenses is a plus.
  • Process payroll for Canadian employees and support payroll process for offshore employees and contractors is a plus
  • Accounts receivables - collection of physical cheques at the office and collection of physical receipts for credit card reconciliation.
  • Follow up on accounts receivable and provide weekly reports to management
  • Support in the calculation of commissions and bonuses


The Essentials


  • Meticulous attention to detail.
  • Able to work independently and on own initiative and resourcefulness, make informed and sensible judgements.
  • Proficiency with any of the following is considered an asset: microsoft word, powerpoint, excel, lucid charts, NetSuite or any CRM/ERP systems.
  • Flexibility and willingness to take on a variety of tasks
  • Knowledge of accounting, data management practices and procedures. Previous work experience in accounting and bookkeeping is preferred.
  • Experience analyzing information and processes.
  • Amenable to work on Hybrid Set Up.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Strong multitasking and time management skills.
  • 3-5 years of work experience as an Accounting or Payroll specialist or in a similar position preferred.
  • Bachelors in Business Administration/Finance/Accounting/Bookkeeping or a related field required;
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
