University degree or equivalent insurance experience.

Insurance-related certifications such as CIP or FCIP, and preferably additional certifications like CRM.

Assist underwriters in handling all underwriting administration and maintenance of accurate data.

Ensure filing of reinsurance related documentation according to guidelines;

Enter policy data into various Starr platforms – Salesforce, Camillion, Lynx, Risk Decisioner, RMS, Ice, etc.

Preparing policy wordings and endorsements as required

Obtain renewal information from brokers, prepare file for underwriter

Liaise with various HO departments

Set up new policy documents and maintain integrity of files, e-filing.

Implementing an up-to-date system to maintain and document regulatory requirements, industry best practices, trends and business requirements.

Mentoring and guiding less experienced underwriters in handling underwriting issues; developing and delivering corresponding training according to departmental needs.

Providing solutions and support for large and complex underwriting risk evaluation processes in a given line of business.

Support compliance oversight and risk management

Monitor and support risk management and associated controls for the Underwriting functions

Strong analytical and decision making skills (Tableau knowledge an asset)

Manage workload and priorities while promoting teamwork and a positive environment

Develop and implement strategies and processes to improve underwriting efficiency, accuracy, and customer experience

Education: Post-secondary diploma or degree with a focus in Business Administration, Mathematics, Actuarial Science, Statistics, or related field.

Certifications: GBA would be an asset

Analyzing the group underwriting system, troubleshooting, and resolving issues with the system

Continuously reviewing and evaluating the system to identify areas for improvement

Providing excellent service to all users of the system.

Accountable for maintenance of team pipeline, adherence to pipeline management process and daily review of pipeline reporting

Adhere to applicable compliance obligations including Privacy, Anti-Money Laundering/Anti-Terrorist Financing and internal Anti-Fraud Policy requirements

Train, coach and mentor Managers and hold a monthly ‘one on one’ session to discuss individual progress
