What are the ongoing responsibilities of a VP/Portfolio Manager?
FTCC is recruiting for a client focused Vice-President/Portfolio Manager (“PM”) to join our private wealth team, which is responsible for the delivery of investment counseling services to high-net-worth Canadian investors and institutions.
Your role will be to service, support and grow a portfolio of private wealth clients. This will involve creating and conducting client review presentations talking about macro events, portfolio performance, strategic and tactical portfolio changes, working with the support teams to review monthly compliance reports, preparing rebalancing trades and raising cash to meet remittance requests.
In addition, you will work on preparing customized proposals designed to best achieve both client and prospect objectives and wealth management needs.
Responsibilities
Reporting to the Head of Private Wealth, Canada, the PM will be responsible for:
  • Growing the private wealth client and asset base through consolidation and referral activities.
  • Delivering exceptional portfolio management support and advice to our existing and growing book of clients.
  • Working with the FTCC Private Wealth Counselor to prepare customized investment proposals; and
  • Conducting phone calls and in person portfolio reviews and responding to emails with both existing and prospective FTCC clients;
  • Collaborating with the customer experience team to ensure that clients are onboarded in a smooth and seamless way;
What ideal qualifications, skills and experience would help someone to be successful?
  • Related work experience or course work in the Personal Trust field
  • Proficiency with word processing, spreadsheet and presentation software
  • Strong analytical and relationship building skills
  • Certified Financial Planner (CFP) and/or Canadian Investment Manager (CIM) designation would be considered an asset .
  • Completed the Certified Investment Management Analyst (CIMA) and/or Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designations (must be eligible for licensing as an Associate Portfolio Manager with provincial Securities Commissions)
  • Demonstrated sales success in the high net worth or private client market
  • At least three years of relevant portfolio management experience supporting clients in a wealth management team
  • Prior experience managing high net worth clients in a servicing/sales capacity
