Day-to-day bookkeeping and full-cycle accounting

Preparing payroll and accompanying entries

Producing reporting on a monthly and quarterly basis and contributing to ad-hoc financial analysis and special projects

Reviewing and preparing regular government reporting

Coordinating and advising on grants, tax credits and other financing opportunities and working with external partners on the files.

At least three years of relevant portfolio management experience supporting clients in a wealth management team

Delivering exceptional portfolio management support and advice to our existing and growing book of clients.

Collaborating with the customer experience team to ensure that clients are onboarded in a smooth and seamless way;

Certified Financial Planner (CFP) and/or Canadian Investment Manager (CIM) designation would be considered an asset .

Prior experience managing high net worth clients in a servicing/sales capacity

Strong analytical and relationship building skills

Provides knowledge detailed information about products and services offered.

Keeps current with investment services marketplace, products, and service offerings and the legal and regulatory environment for the industry.

Ensures client needs are met or exceeded; manages requests in accordance with established policies and procedures.

Proactively identify areas and opportunities to use technology to modernize & enhance customer experience and/or organizational efficiency.

Provides leadership in managing IT risk (e.g.: security, disaster recovery, technology solution quality, etc.) and control requirements.

10+ years of demonstrated experience in modernizing IT environments with a preference for significant complexity, highly regulated, and/or financial services environments.

5+ years progressive leadership experience related to both projects and teams.

Demonstrated experience in planning and project management.

Knowledge of project management principles and methodologies.

Knowledge of quality improvement processes and tools.

Demonstrated ability to manage challenging and competing demands within a limited timeframe.

Excellent written and oral communication skills coupled with the ability to write or edit high quality business documents.

Strong planning, critical thinking and analytical skills.

Strong time-management and interpersonal skills, and the ability to consistently meet deadlines

Being responsible for the management and administration of the existing book of business;

Reviewing tax installments, scheduled contributions/withdrawals, RIF/LIF payments, RESP grants, and management fees;

Advanced skills and experience with Salesforce

Reporting and supporting the portfolio managers and referring advisors;

Preparing regular reports and client presentations to assist the portfolio managers;

In organizing and administering programs and projects

In preparing reports, correspondence and other communications

In administrative functions and activities

In planning, developing and conducting presentations, seminars, meetings, events, and/or conferences

In budget development and administration

In applying policies, procedures, regulations and relevant legislation

Previous experience in electricity and gas markets

Experience in asset and mathematical modeling techniques

Computer programming skills in Python or other languages preferred

University degree in finance, mathematics, economics and/or computer science preferred

A ncillary trading and pricing TransAlta’s merchant portfolio in the AB market

Develop and execute market strategies to maximize margin, hedge commodity risk, and achieve financial targets

Excellent organization and time management skills

Ensures compliance with and advocates for enterprise project management practices

Identifies and addresses any change management issues or concerns that stem from the changes being implemented

Collects and consolidates project status updates into the portfolio tracking tool from project managers and/or business leads

Manages small projects or phases of larger projects; keeps stakeholders informed and ensures target deadlines are met

Manages strategy updates through corporate newsletter and employee intranet
