VP of Business Development, Sales Sector Lead, Resources - North America


Purpose


We are looking for a VP of Business Development to lead the growth and expansion of our Mining, Minerals, Metals, Water & Infrastructure business in North America. This role will report directly to the Territory Sales Leads in North America and have active coordination & collaboration with Operational leadership.


Primary focus will be in support of our MMM business that is currently in a period of growth, and the successful incumbent will be responsible for continuing the development, revenue growth and long-term success of the MMM business across North America.


Responsibilities


  • Represent the company at industry conferences, events, and forums to enhance the brand's visibility and strengthen relationships with key stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineering, operations, finance, and legal, to develop compelling proposals and negotiate contracts.
  • Enhance Worley’s presence and reputation in the Mining, Minerals & Metals EPFC sector and establish Worley as a recognized market-leader in North American MMM industry.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key decision-makers, industry influencers, and potential customers to foster collaboration and drive business development efforts.
  • Identify, evaluate, and pursue new business opportunities, which could include mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, and strategic partnerships.
  • Develop and execute a comprehensive business development strategy to expand the customer base and drive revenue growth in the North American Resources sector.
  • Monitor market trends, competitor activities, and regulatory changes to identify emerging opportunities and risks.
  • Deliver on Resource Sector Sales Plan to strategically target new clients as well as identifying opportunities to develop new business with existing customers in the region.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to the business development team, fostering a culture of excellence, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Manage the recruitment, retention and development of the MMM Sales team across North America including performance management, targets, training etc.
  • Monitor and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) to assess the effectiveness of business development strategies and make data-driven recommendations for improvement.
  • Drive market growth by leveraging industry knowledge, experience and connections with key partners (eg. mining companies, regulatory bodies, industry associations etc)


What You Will Bring


Technical and Industry Experience:


  • Ability to devise and execute comprehensive business development plans
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Engineering, project delivery and / or EPFC experience
  • Proven track record of successfully delivering growth (successful project bids, new clients, revenue generation etc)
  • Strong leadership experience and development skills
  • Mining sector experience
  • Strong business and financial acumen
  • 15+ years’ industry experience, with at least 10 years+ in a business development / sales capacity within the Mining (MMM) sector


Required


Education – Qualifications, Accreditation, Training:


  • Degree educated (typically Engineering, Business Administration, or related field)


This role can be based in a major mining center in North America with a preference towards the Greater Toronto Area.


It is a customer-facing role which will require regular travel to customer offices, Worley offices and industry events across North America. The sales team is distributed across all major mining centers in North America.
