Vice President, CPG, Tim Hortons


Tim Hortons (CPG) is looking for a curious, hungry, innovative, and experienced international CPG professional to lead our multi-market, multi-functional CPG team. Joining Tim Horton’s CPG team can be compared to partnering on an entrepreneurial venture that is empowering, agile, innovative and a growth engine for our overall Tim Hortons business. The CPG team at Tim’s is on a journey to build our brand into Food and Grocery retail channels in Canada, US, Mexico, and other international markets. Tims CPG has already become the #1 and #2 market share in many grocery categories in Canada and is now one of the largest Canadian CPG companies as measured by sales. It is also driving recurring double-digit growth in the US with a clear runway for expansion and has recently been entering new countries around the world – in some cases where Tims restaurants are also being built-out and in other cases where CPG products are the first foray for the brand into the country. Our diverse CPG team is experienced across markets and industries, leading exponential growth in many categories like roast and ground coffee, single-serve, instant coffee, hot chocolate, soups, ice cream, cold brew, creamers and many more products within grocery.


The Vice President, CPG will lead the end-to-end P&L of Tim Hortons at Home products within diverse food channels (ecommerce, grocery, club, HoReCa, D2C etc.) The leader will serve as the subject matter expert for the industry by establishing strong partnerships across retailers, co-manufactures & market partners helping to leverage our innovative high quality product portfolio. As a champion of the brand, you will drive the global CPG vision and strategy, placing a strong emphasis on brand development. The key functions that will report into this role include General Managers for each of Canada, the US, and International, as well as a Head of CPG Marketing & Category Management. The responsibility set of these direct reports includes the end-to-end functions for managing the CPG business: strategy, finance, sales, brand and shopper marketing, supply chain, insights, product development, and category management. With your expertise, you will lead cross-functional collaboration, ensuring the brand’s consistent representation and amplifying its value proposition in everything you do.


Responsibilities


What you’ll do:


  • Liaison with cross functional RBI leaders to enhance processes and gain expertise.
  • Build the most effective go-to-market strategy, positioning the categories to lead market share.
  • Build strong partnerships with brokers and retailers within each market.
  • Develop a regular customer / distributor review schedule with clear success criteria.
  • Evolve and build the right skill set and team structure to deliver the vision.
  • Support ideation and commercialization of new product innovation.
  • Liaison with the Restaurant team and build partnerships and opportunities for mutual business growth.
  • Partner to build brand awareness and marketing strategies.
  • Translate consumer and category insights into a marketing strategy that drives sales, consumer engagement and Tim Hortons brand love.
  • Ability to think strategically and develop long-term brand strategies that align with business goals and market trends.
  • Deliver a Global growth strategy for the CPG business unit (Channel, Product, Team, New market entry).
  • Own the end-to-end P&L and build a portfolio strategy for each market, product category and retailer account.
  • Support distributors and their teams as they manage major accounts.
  • Develop monthly forecasts based on retail sales and provide updates to the vendors that produce our products.
  • Find efficiencies within the value chain for sourcing, distribution, reconciliations, and optimize trade investments.

  • Understands upstream (internal cross-functional stakeholders) and downstream (brokers and retailers) implications of their work.
  • This position requires occasional frequent international travel - a valid passport is required.

Requirements


  • 10+ years’ experience in brand management and marketing roles within the CPG industry, 5+ leading international teams
  • MBA, or equivalent experience
  • Coffee industry experience is a plus
  • Able to travel extensively, with some overnight travel
