Utility Specialist/Coordinator


Performs complex utility planning and program development work


  • Manage interface with municipalities as necessary to define project requirements and deliverables to get clear expectations
  • Maintain database of all correspondence with utility companies
  • Provide guidance to others related to work as assigned
  • Understand & relay local jurisdictional requirements as it relates to the installation of a new electrical service with relevant utility
  • Review’s utility construction reports, service regulations, and utility agency rules, compliance policies, and objectives
  • Effectively communicate any unforeseen delays with all stakeholders and develop plans to get the project back on track
  • Schedule and attend utility coordination meetings
  • Requires constant communication with all project stakeholders.
  • Prepare utility agreement packages, reviewing plans to evaluate compliance with guidelines, rules, and regulations, determining eligibility and betterment ratios
  • Conduct easement and property research in public records.
  • Act as a liaison between our engineers, project management team and the end customer
  • Drive conversations with relevant utilities regarding next steps
  • Formulate recommendations to correct problems and deficiencies
  • Provide utility coordination and oversight for projects such as electrical vehicle installation that require new transformer services at Client’s facilities.
  • Conduct meeting with individual utility companies and site field visits to coordinate proposed utility locations


Experience and Education


  • Experience and education may be substituted for one another.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience with utility coordination and electrical engineering related
  • Experience in utility regulatory work.
  • Graduation from an accredited college or university with major coursework in accounting, business administration, finance, statistics, construction, engineering, or a related field is generally preferred.


Knowledge, Skills And Abilities


  • Ability to maintain effective relationships with utilities.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and provide guidance to others.
  • Excellent attention to detail and sound judgement
  • Knowledge of principles, laws, rules, regulations, and practices of utility operations
  • Ability to read and interpret applicable plans, schematics, blueprints, and maps
