Toronto, ON (home-based)
CNIB invites you to build a career as unique as you! We are currently searching for a Trainer, Assistive Technology, Come to Work! Reporting to the Manager, Outreach, Come to Work, the Trainer, Assistive Technology, Come to Work will assist in cultivating the essential technology skills of our clients (known as the talent pool) to find and maintain employment. This will be done through one to one and group training, development of training and progression plans, implementation of goal/skill building strategies in conjunction with other Come to Work (CTW) staff and follow up as needed.
Your impact at CNIB
  • Register (tracking system) and follow-up with individuals for group participation for upcoming workshops and one-on-one technology training.
  • Execution of at least one (1) Group session per month, with coordination of multiple 1on1 sessions per day/week/month based on areas of focus provided from the Program Lead/Coordinator working with the Talent Pool.
  • Assist Talent Pool with training regimen of activities and progress follow up with Talent as well as in to reporting tools.
  • Excellent organizational skills to manage Outlook calendar to coordinate monthly workshops and one-to-one virtual meetings three to four times per day.
  • Conducts multiple 1-on-1 sessions with individuals within the Talent Pool developing skills in work related duties (i.e., email, documents, website, cloud storage, communications) via remote delivery courses and materials shared (developed, updated, shared). Accessible technology includes, Window accessibility features, screen readers, magnification software, smart phone Apps, etc.
  • Technologically savvy to learn new accessibility Apps, software, and technology quickly to provide assistance and demonstrations to the vision loss community.
  • Regular follow up with potential and current Talent Pool participants by telephone, email and virtual platforms (Zoom Video / Microsoft Teams).
Requirements
Who you are:
  • Advanced computer skills, with proficiency in MS Office software including Outlook email / calendar, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and virtual platforms (Zoom Video / Teams).
  • Customer service oriented with well-developed interpersonal skills.
  • Previous Employment Counselling an asset.
  • Excellent administrative, time-management and organizational interpersonal skills
  • Proficiency/Working knowledge of Salesforce (an asset)
  • Excellent written and oral communications skills.
  • Language fluency – Written and Oral English), with written and oral French - an asset (preferred). One role must be filled with a bilingual individual. Second role, it is asset to be bilingual. Interviews will be conducted in both English and French.
  • Advanced knowledge of assistive technology (i.e., Zoomtext, JAWS, NVDA, Windows Narrator) required.
  • Demonstrates mature and sensitive nature, as well as emotional and social stability when dealing with the needs of persons experiencing vision loss and other functional challenges.
  • Must be able to work independently.
  • Professional attitude, results oriented, self-directed, and flexible.
  • Proven time management and organization skills; amenable to changing priorities, deadlines, and procedures.
  • Have an interest, aptitude, and ability to research existing and new accessible technology for the vision loss community.
We want to hear from you if you have:
  • Minimum Post-Secondary education or equivalent experience.
  • Personal or professional experience working with assistive technology and/or accessible environments is considered an asset.
  • Two (2) to four (4) years of Training Delivery experience
  • Personal or professional experience relating to blindness and sight loss is considered an asset.
Work Environment
  • Applicant must have access to Internet. Computer and iPhone provided.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours.
  • Occasional travel within the region (10%) dependent on current regional health and organization guideline.
