POSITION DESCRIPTION
ROLE: SR. SOCIAL STRATEGIST
TEAM: THE KITCHEN NORTH AMERICA
ABOUT THE KITCHEN NORTH AMERICA
The Kitchen is the in-house agency for Kraft Heinz. Based in Toronto & Chicago, we were built to take iconic brands into a new era of marketing, powered by culture, creativity, and collaboration.
What makes us different? The way we work. Our 90+ strong team of creatives, strategists, producers, designers, and content creators work directly with our brand partners to unlock creativity and deliver breakthrough social and digital ideas at the speed of culture.
POSITION SUMMARY
As a Sr. Social Strategist in The Kitchen, you use your knowledge of social media, and the audiences that engage with content online to identify inspiring opportunities for social content. You can translate that into a clear and concise brief for creative teams. You have a deep understanding of the established and developing social platforms to help inspire, hone, and plan campaigns and content for maximum effectiveness.
You will work to lay the foundation for a variety of creative works online and collaborate with creative teams to make the playbooks that define the personality of these brands, from their passion points to their tone of voice. You will help ensure that each brand understands its place in a constantly evolving dynamic world of social media. You and your team will inspire and create great content that moves at the speed of culture.
You will develop the paid and owned media strategies that our brands use to bring ideas to our audiences. You will provide a data-driven approach to content distribution, owning earned/organic distribution and partner with media planners to inform paid distribution.
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES
- PLANNING & MEDIA STRATEGY: You understand the ad units, media opportunities, and post content options in a complex multi-platform environment online to make strategic recommendations for how to create and amplify work that reaches the right audience – with both paid and owned media.
- SOCIAL PLAYBOOK CREATION: Oversee social media playbook development with an eye for solid brand DNA, voice and platform strategy.
- TEAM MANAGEMENT: You will work with a social pod consisting of a social copywriter, content creator and directly manage a social media manager, helping them create and deploy daily content, working directly with brand partners.
- PRESENTATION SKILLS: You understand how to clearly and effectively translate your deep understanding of social media into simple, compelling stories and presentations to help get ideas approved by brand teams and executed.
- CULTURAL STRATEGY: You will translate the events, trends, and conversations surrounding our brands into inspiring creative opportunities and proactive briefs that allow these brands to participate in culture quickly, and effectively. You understand how to identify the passion points and topics a brand should participate in online.
- SOCIAL LISTENING: You will translate social listening data and media insights into strategic recommendations that help inform new creative and content.
- COMMUNITY MANAGEMENT: You have experience in (and ideally in managing) a community management role and can provide a team of social media managers and social copywriters with support and expertise in a variety of fast-changing situations as they happen online.
- REPORTING: You will approve and help your team create the social media reports that go to brand partners to showcase our work.
- SOCIAL MEDIA EXPERTISE: You are a platform expert who ensures that the creatives, strategists, and brand partners around you understand how to operate in a constantly changing world of social media platforms and trends.
EXPERIENCE & SKILLS
- Proficient in creating presentations (PowerPoint or Keynote).
- 5+ years of experience in a social strategy or creative department in a related role.
- A university or college diploma in marketing, advertising, or a related field is preferred.
- A passion for food and food marketing.
- A love and deep understanding of social culture, and trends.
- Experience with a social media management platform (i.e. Sprout, Sprinklr, Khoros) is required.
- A history of being able to work with creative teams and strategists, providing expertise and influencing the brand’s strategy online.
- Experience with one or more insights tools and services including Social Listening tools and platforms.
- Excellent presentation skills and communication skills in a group environment.
- A proven track record of managing brands with a significant following, ideally for a CPG or lifestyle brand.
