Industrial Solutions Segment
TE operates through three customer facing Segments: Industrial Solutions, Transportation Solutions, and Communication Solutions.
The Industrial Solutions Segment, with $4.5B of net sales and 17% of net sales organic growth in Fiscal Year 2022, consists of four Business Units (Industrial; Medical; Energy; and Aerospace, Defense, & Marine), which span end-markets such as industrial automation, medical devices, intelligent buildings, commercial aerospace, solar and wind power generation, smart energy grid, oil & gas, and rail transportation.
THE INDUSTRIAL BUSINESS UNIT
The Industrial Business Unit (BU), with $1.9B of net sales and ~28% of net sales organic growth in Fiscal Year 2022, has a broad portfolio of products, used across factory and warehouse automation, process control systems, robotics, building automation and smart city infrastructure, energy storage and electrification solutions and rail applications.
The Industrial BU operates in an opportunity-rich space for value creation and serves a diverse set of end-markets with tremendous growth opportunity. The Business Development function plays a pivotal role in enabling this growth by translating well-informed strategic bets into sustainable, profitable top-line actions.
ROLE REPORTING, LOCATION AND TRAVEL EXPECTATIONS
This Senior Director reports to the VP of Strategy & Business Development, works extensively with the Business Unit Senior Leadership Team and leads a team of around 10 professionals, including managers.
This person can be based in Europe. They would be expected to travel approximately 10-25% of the time to meet stakeholders, participate in team meetings, and attend industry conferences or events.
The Role
The Senior Director will be a thought leader and trusted advisor to the Industrial Global Leadership Team, working closely with them as well as with customers, partners, and cross-functional stakeholders to develop and lead Business Development initiatives, programs and decisions. The Senior Director will play a pivotal role in achieving the BU’s growth, margin expansion, and KPI objectives. This Senior Director reports to the VP of Strategy & Business Development, works extensively with the Business Unit Senior Leadership Team and leads a team of around 10 professionals, including managers.
This person can be based in Europe. They would be expected to travel approximately 10-25% of the time to meet stakeholders, participate in team meetings, and attend industry conferences or events.
This Senior Director Will Be Responsible For
  • Identification of new current and future profit-pools through a deep understanding of customers, competitors, partners, and the broader ecosystem.
  • Advising on path of action.
  • Aligning key stakeholders and driving a governance process to facilitate execution.
  • Interacting with external stakeholders (customers, partners, etc.) and internal stakeholders (sales, product management, engineering, operations, finance, etc.) to identify, conceive, develop, and champion revenue and margin growth opportunities by developing value propositions, positioning the product/portfolio, setting strategic goals and initiatives, and conducting targeted promotions.
Key Responsibilities
  • Continuously review opportunities to expand Total Addressable Markets and Serviceable Addressable Markets.
  • Own, maintain and drive progress dashboards. Report on progress on financial goals, new opportunities, new customers, and pipeline.
  • Analyze and develop recommendations on Make vs. Partner vs. Buy decisions for new business and technology growth areas.
  • Inform and influence executive leaders and key stakeholders on developing and operationalizing growth strategies.
  • Identify new growth platforms within and across the Business Units. These growth platforms should have a balanced mix of core and adjacent spaces that significantly expand TE’s addressable market.
  • Champion organizational focus on most attractive application growth areas.
  • Engage with customers and eco-system partners to identity and assess key market and technology trends that will impact the Industrial Equipment business.
  • Own and convert these opportunities into tangible actions to drive profitable growth.
  • Partner with internal product management team and system architecture team to define and develop prototype solutions that address key market trends over the next 3-5 years.
  • Be the owner/sponsor to translate these product ideas & prototypes through the development cycle to launch and scale successful products.
  • Demonstrate strong program-management mindset to drive growth initiatives by providing direction, establishing priorities, assigning and pursuing tasks, ensuring accountability, and driving systematic follow-through.
  • Initiate and collaborate with stakeholders to develop customer proposals and presentations, business cases, value propositions and supporting financial models.
