The Payroll Specialist is responsible for maintaining and reconciling payroll related financial accounts, compiling and posting hourly employee time and payroll data. This position will compute employees' time worked, post wages and deductions and prepare pay cheques. We have over 700 year-round employees and onboard up to 1300 seasonal employees twice per year.

Hybrid - 2 days per week onsite, 3 days per week remote


WHAT WILL I BE DOING?


  • Preparing and balance period-end reports, such as WSIB and EHT and reconcile issued payrolls to bank statements.
  • Reviewing time sheets, work charts, wage computation, and other information in order to detect and reconcile payroll discrepancies.
  • Issuing employee paychecks and statements of earnings and deductions.
  • Providing information to employees and managers on payroll matters, tax issues, benefit premium plans and premiums,
  • Processing hourly employee payroll changes electronically, accurately, efficiently and according to the payroll schedule.
  • Publishing and distribute annual employee T4’s.
  • Compiling employee time, production, and payroll data from time sheets and other records.


WHAT DO WE NEED FROM YOU?


  • At least 2 years’ experience with a time and attendance system
  • At least 3 years’ experience on a computerized payroll system
  • Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to deal with people tactfully and in a professional manner.
  • Ability to multi-task, be flexible and move from one priority to another, while maintaining a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • The ability to work on-site for part of the week (at least 2 shifts per week)
  • Must possess a strong aptitude for computers, specifically Excel
