Getty Images works with over 496,000 contributors and image partners around the globe who add 8-10 million new assets each quarter to the 520 million assets contained in our catalogue. Making Getty Images one of the world’s largest commercial archives.
There are 2 fundamental questions the Getty Images Search & Ranking Team are working to solve:
"If an image is worth a thousand words, wouldn’t it be nice if we didn’t have to type a thousand words to find it?"
And
"What do we do when an image is your search query, instead of text entered into a field"
To find a solution to these questions we are building a highly efficient, Artificially Intelligent (AI) Image search engine that pushes the boundaries of Natural Language Processing (NLP) and Visual Search Machine Learning (ML)
The Search Team at Getty Images is responsible for building something that has never been built before. On a scale that will challenge the best of the best Engineers and Data Scientists alike.

This position is responsible for coding software applications. Testing and debugging new and existing software as well as performance tuning and optimization of existing code. Normally receives general instructions on routine work, and detailed instructions on new assignments.
Due to the current conditions of COVID-19, this key position will initially work from home, until such a time when we return to our office.

• You are experienced developing highly distributed and scalable visual-content-based applications.

• You’ve worked with service-oriented architectures and consumed APIs. You know REST. You are agile and look for opportunities to improve delivery flow.
• You are passionate about image recognition technology. Problem domain of visual search fascinates you!

Your Next Challenge

• Participating in a fast paced agile process
• Developing end-to-end solutions to resolve scaling & distribution architectural problems
• Some travel may be required
• Working at the top of coding-standards, continuous-integration and continuous delivery methodologies
• Working with development team and operations to support and fine-tune development and production environments, tune and optimize code.
• Using TDD to deliver testable and tested code
• Pushing for improvement to process and results

What You’ll Need

• 3+ years of experience with SQL and No-SQL (Redis, Mongo, MemCache) in production
• Personal initiative, strong interpersonal skills
• Exp working with Big Data technology tools such as Hadoop, Spark
• Detailed understanding of OO programming, and Design Patterns
• Working experience Deep Learning frameworks (Caffe, etc.) are valued
• Experience with Agile development practices (Scrum, Kanban)
• Experience working and deploying within Windows and Linux
• Experience with message broker software (RMQ, MSQ) in production
• Experience with paired programming
• 4+ years of working experience with C++/C#/Java/Python in production
• Computer Science degree or equivalent
• Experience working with Git

Nice To Have

• Experience with variety of web technologies such as HTML5/CSS3, ASP.NET MVC, JavaScript, etc.
• Experience with data presentation tool such as Tableau, etc.
• Lean Product Development
• Experience with computer vision algorithm such as Scale-invariant feature transform (SIFT)
• Public/Private Cloud infrastructure experience - such as AWS, OpenStack, etc.

Mental And Physical Demands

• Frequent repetition of motions and gestures that may include the wrists, hands and/or fingers. (Required)
• Frequent communication with others to exchange information.
• Constant operation of computer and frequent usage of other office machinery, including (but not limited to) calculator, copy machine, computer printer, etc.
• Frequent sedentary work that primarily involves sitting/standing; Time of each will vary.

Due to the current conditions and impact of Covid-19, this key position will initially work from home, until such a time we open our offices. At the time of the local office opening, employees and managers will partner to determine the work site location in line with our Flexible working policy.
