Data Analyst (Perm- Calgary)

Duration: PERM - full time

Location: Calgary(2x/week)

Must - haves:

* Undergraduate degree in Statistics, Data Science or related field

* Tableau or PowerBI certification

* Proven experience with relational database and writing SQL code.

* Knowledge and experience with analytics scripting languages such as Python or R -

* 5+ years utility or retail industry experience in data analytics / data visualization role, including 3+ years' experience communicating analytical findings effectively to business stakeholders and executives.

* Minimum 5 years of experience working in data and reporting analytics working with large data sets, complex data modelling, and ad-hoc queries

Insight Global is looking for a Data Analyst, Business Intelligence & Strategy to join a prominent Canadian diversified conglomerate that operates across multiple industries, including energy, utilities, structures & logistics, and investment. This will be a permanent, fulltime role, hybrid out of Calgary (onsite Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday).

On a daily basis, you'll...

* Maintain and update reports and dashboards in a timely interval, by reviewing and updating data sources, reporting measures, and/or logic as needed.

* Collaborate with business stakeholders to understand strategy, challenges & opportunities, define & capture key data, and build world class dashboards driving self-service analysis & key decision-making processes.

* Develop a story around your insights and share it with the executives and stakeholders in an engaging and stimulating way.

* Work efficiently with business stakeholders to collect business requirements and translate those requirements into technical reporting specifications; support business by demonstrating expertise around linking requirements to KPI development.

* Utilize statistical tools such as data mining, clustering, and predictive models to expand and improve insights by challenging the status quo and aligning the right metrics to business objectives.

* Analyze data, find root causes, develop prototypes using Tableau/Power-BI, and extract insights from these data activities to inform business decisions.

* Verify accuracy of data and work collaboratively with back-end team to resolve any technical design specifications and reporting database record issues.

* Develop milestones and timelines while managing small-to-mid scale reporting initiatives or analysis requests; work proactively to communicate any challenges or progress in non-technical business language.

* Extract and build reporting view models from raw data to support additional or ad-hoc analyses.

* Identify and build best team performance review measurements and update the team KPIs on regular basis.

* Support in establishing data visualization standards and explore new & better ways to raise those standards.
