SYNERGY LAND AND ENVIRONMENTAL SERVICES is looking for a Contaminated Sites Specialistto join our team. We are looking for candidates that are enthusiastic, team oriented professionals with a strong technical background and are will to get their hands dirty in the field when required. This is afull-timerole.
SYNERGY LAND AND ENVIRONMENTAL SERVICES is an expanding progressive land and environmental consulting firm with a special interest in oil and gas, forestry, mining, energy, and agricultural industries, and municipal authorities throughout Alberta, British Columbia, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Ontario and Canada’s north. Synergy began as a home-based business in November 2006. Today, Synergy is a national company, with 60 staff members located in our Calgary, St Albert, Fort Macleod, Fort St. John, Prince George, Regina, Brandon and Cambridge offices.We offer interdisciplinary expertise to develop environmental solutions for our clients throughout Canada.
General Qualifications and Competencies
- A working knowledge of Alberta’s regulatory framework
- Registered professional in good standing in the Province of Alberta or British Columbia
- Preference given to individuals with knowledge of BC's framework
- Service-oriented and the ability to multi-task with strong written and verbal communication skills
- A degree or diploma in environmental science, geoscience, soil science, geology, hydrogeology, civil or environmental engineering
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in a directly related role including experience managing and executing assessment and remediation projects
- A valid and clean driver’s license with no restrictions
- Previous experience in a consulting environment
- Experienced with Remedial Options Analysis and development of Remedial Action Plans and Risk Management Plans. An understanding of how to apply sustainable remediation to Remedial Options Analysis is an asset.
- Knowledgeable about evolving and emerging trends, strategies, and technologies that are available or becoming available that can be incorporated into our projects to address new opportunities or requirements (e.g., client needs, regulatory changes)
Responsibilities
- Provide technical project direction and mentorship to junior and intermediate staff
- Consult with clients and provide practical, cost-effective, and scientifically and ethically sound solutions
- Act as a client liaison to maintain successful, productive relationships ensuring effective communication and project management
- Experience leading or supporting liability evaluations for acquisitions and divestitures, and site-specific liability evaluations
- Prepare or review technical correspondence, proposals, work plans, cost estimates, reports, and project specifications for assessment and remediation programs
- Accountable for technical strategy and oversight on contaminated site assessment and remediation projects while directing complex field activities
- Help build and expand the Contaminated Sites division. This is inclusive of business development opportunities
- Where possible work with First Nation communities to employ Field Techs and to incorporate Indigenous requirements local communities my request
