Competencies, Experience, Skills & Attributes

Expert knowledge and competency in the safe use of portable nuclear gauges

Working knowledge of the Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission and governing regulations.

Great networking skills, able to work at multiple levels of the organization, from field team members to Senior Leadership.

Knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite (SharePoint, Teams, Word, Excel and PowerPoint).

Bachelor’s degree of higher in Occupational Safety, Health Safety and Environmental Management, Social Sciences or related field

Will serve as a technical resource by providing guidance and assistance to ensure compliance HSE requirements

5+ years of Oil & Gas or Construction HSE experience

7+ years of HSE experience in Oil & Gas or Construction

Exceptional leadership, organizational and problem-solving skills

Professional working experience in and understanding of construction safety regulations and their applicability to upstream oil and gas operations

Develop and maintain general knowledge of existing and proposed regulations. Provide technical and compliance guidance to employees and management.

Knowledge of EHS Management Systems (e.g. ISO:14001, ISO:45001).

Post-secondary education (4-year bachelor's degree OR a 2-year certificate in occupational health and safety OR equivalent).

Minimum 4 years experience in an EHS related role.

Previous experience in the general construction or nuclear industry is an asset.

CRSP certification or (R)CSO certification is an asset.

Strong organizational and time management skills

Degree or diploma in adult education, human resources, health and safety, or a combination of education, training and experience deemed equivalent

Experience in a post-secondary education an asset

Manages the design, development and inventory of HSE training courses and plans. Coordinates the preparation of training materials and resources.

Recognized certification (e.g. CTDP, CHRP, CRSP, ROH, EP, CCPE, CRST) is an asset

Strong understanding of adult learning principles and experience using eLearning application/development tools and software

Positive relationship building and management skills

Assist Supervisors and Managers with the application of the HSE system requirements.

Strong communication skills - experience in training, giving presentations and writing reports.

Maintain contractor lists and qualification.

Minimum 3 years of Health and Safety experience in a unionized manufacturing environment, preferably in the plastic industry.

Must be adaptable and able to gain knowledge required to perform functions in a professional manner.

Demonstrated experience undertaking contaminated site investigations, risk management and remediation projects.

Working with the Quality Management team to uphold quality standards and procedures

Ability to manage projects of significant complexity, and often with competing priorities.

Bachelor of Science in Engineering, Environmental Science, Geoscience, or Technologist diploma with relevant experience or similar bachelor degree.

10 years of experience, which will be a combination of technical and supervisory experience.

Demonstrated experience in environmental emergency response and incident command.

ISO 45001, ISO 14001, COR knowledge. Experience in certification and maintaining certification preferred.

Maintain a Health and Safety Management System in conformance to ISO45001 standards and compliance with applicable laws and regulations.

Perform Management of Change as required.

Maintain Environmental Management System in conformance to ISO14001 standards and compliance with applicable laws and regulations.

Participate in the management and coordination of HSE projects as needed.

College Diploma in Health & Safety or demonstrated equivalent education and experience.

Act as a client liaison to maintain successful, productive relationships ensuring effective communication and project management

A minimum of 5 years of experience in a directly related role including experience managing and executing assessment and remediation projects

Previous experience in a consulting environment

Service-oriented and the ability to multi-task with strong written and verbal communication skills

A working knowledge of Alberta’s regulatory framework

Preference given to individuals with knowledge of BC's framework

Support of Senior/Site Management, Operations Group and Safety Teams in implementing, maintaining and executing the Mikisew Group Safety Management Program

Support environmental management and sustainability initiatives, including waste management, emissions reductions, and resource conservation.

Ability to manage and prioritize competing responsibilities and tasks

Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Including PowerPoint, Excel, Word, Outlook) and various HSE Management Systems (SaaS) and audit processes

Manage emergency response planning and preparedness for the site, ensuring effective coordination and communication during emergencies.

Stay current with applicable HSE regulations, industry standards, and best practices, applying this knowledge to continually improve site HSE performance

Applies general knowledge of business developed through education or past experience. Understands how work of own team contributes to the area.

This role requires basic experience in the Project Management & Quality.

Developing conceptual knowledge of professional discipline. May include support roles with specialized expertise or technical knowledge in broad area.

Strong oral and written communication skills. Ability to document, plan, market, and execute programs.
